Hello!

Hello everyone I'm new to keto! I have a quick question, and please be nice lol. When I workout it deducts my overall calories, but not carbs through the app. Does this mean regardless of my exercise I cannot have additional carbs after?

Hmm.....mine deducts workout calories AND carbs, so I can have more of both when I work out. Not sure why it's not deducting carbs for you. Maybe someone else has a solution or check help topics here: https://help.carbmanager.com/en/

To get into and stay in ketosis you need to limit your overall carb intake.

Carbs will increase your blood sugar and cause an insulin response which stops ketosis. The more carbs you eat the longer the insulin response lasts and the less time you  spend in ketosis.

The whole idea is to get the body burning fats and not carbs. You don't actually need carbs to survive, the body can synthesize all the glucose it needs from fats.

It's just hard to eat absolutely zero carbs, so the idea is to try and limit them as much as possible. The general guideline is no more than 50 g per day, but to get things going under 20 g is even better.

Your body will have to burn through its glucose reserves stored in the muscles and liver before it will really start to metabolize fat and that can take a few days at least.
