On the go breakfast ideas

I’m not a morning person, and I would love some grab and go breakfast ideas.

Thanks!

Bullet proof coffee or skipping breakfast is very popular on the keto diet.

We make and freeze keto waffles, keto biscuits, keto cinnamon rolls, keto buns, keto tortillas and keto bagels that my husband can reheat in the morning for a quick breakfast.

We also keep a good supply of quest protein bars and Premier Protein  shakes for keto high-protein on the go food.

Hard boiled, eggs, string cheese, nuts are other easy ideas.

Have you been on keto long? Honestly by week 2 I was not even hungry for breakfast and I started having only my coffee w/ MCT & HWC in the morning and it keeps me full until lunch. Now I'm to the point where I can fast until dinner most days too, which eliminates having to prep two meals for work every day.

Most keto you aren't really going to find something in the store pre-made you can just grab and eat. When I did eat breakfast the first week I had to cook/prep ahead. Hard boiled eggs were my grab and go. If I wanted to heat up breakfast I would have cooked omelettes, scrambled eggs w/ spinach, egg muffins, and bacon. A little platter of some almonds, olives, hard boiled egg, and sliced avocado would be good that doesn't need warmed up.

  • We found a great recipe using eggs  ham and cheese you can make ahead and warm in the microwave, I don't remember where I got the exact recipe but it was like this one.  We did a 6 muffin pan, put the ham in the cup, put in cheese then broke an egg in it.  They come out like a muffin size breakfast. With Keto it is cooking and and preparing stuff ahead of time, it does take work. If you prep your food a few days ahead of time and plan your meals it makes it a lot easier. If you are not interested in cooking there is something called dirty Keto you might want to check it out, its basically more for weight loss, whereas Keto is about healing your body from the inside out, the weight loss is a happy side effect of that.

I’m in my first week still.

I was looking for something to pick up on my way to work and not cooking/prepping. But it seems like I will have to.

Thank you you for letting me know it gets better after the first week. Haha

Not sure where you’re located and what is around you but most fast food places you can eat like a breakfast egg sausage cheese McMuffin minus the McMuffin of course so just the egg, sausage and cheese. The only issue is that you don’t know what oil if any they are using, that’s the only issue I have with eating out.

What I have started doing and making them ahead of time just in case I want to have them is making a egg frittata with whatever ingredients you want in it.  I make them in muffin pans, I make about 24 at a time since they freeze well. Depending on how many days you plan on eating breakfast you can take some out and let them thaw overnight and heat them in the morning.

Costco has good protein bars.  Not much in them and only 3 net carbs.

I've been relying on the Costco protein bars with some cream cheese on the side to fill in meal gaps.  I also like Primal Thin Protein Bars but they are a bit chewier and I can't eat them right now--a little like a taffy, and I like the ingredients too.

(I really only liked the Paleo Thin Sunflower Butter flavor and Sweet Cream flavor--most of the others I ate begrudgingly when I bought the sample pack, some I couldn't stomach at all and had to dump after a few bites.)

You can also make a smoothie in the morning. Just throw some almond milk, a handful of spinach and protein powder (I use low carb organic unflavored whey protein by Natural Force) and some MCT oil into a blender with some vanilla extract and/or some berries. It's very good and filling. You'd get a significant amount of protein, fat and small amount of carbs in that way. You can adjust for you taste, such as adding cocoa powder or peanut butter powder.
