Help please Keto beginner

My blood sugar is very low and I have very little energy. I’ve been eating on the Keto diet for two weeks now. I’m drinking plenty of water, replenishing my sodium and electrolytes, and eating lots of fats. Could I not be in full Ketosis and that’s what’s happening? If you are in Ketosis, are blood sugar levels usually good and stable? I’m wondering if I need to go back to a more balanced diet. I’m not overweight and I exercise regularly, so maybe Keto isn’t for me? Help please!

  • I don't know if you are in ketosis but it sounds like you might have a touch of the "flu".       Generally it passes in a few days but maybe your body needs more carbs? Sorry I can not help .

Low blood sugar is very dangerous. Maybe you should see a doctor. When I am in ketosis my blood sugar levels are dead normal. There are certain foods that wll lower your blood sugar like lemon and cinamon which might effect those with normal sugar levels . I suggest you see your doctor it might be something else.

I agree with Lynette  and would seek a medical opinion.

  • Thanks for everyone’s options. Mine was below 70 mg/dl everyday and sometimes 50 mg/dL or below. I was really weak and almost passed out a few times. I decided to incorporate more carbs in my diet, mostly from fruit. I feel much better now.

Just saw that you included your BS numbers. That is low. I'm wondering if you're getting enough protein? Are you tracking in the app and meeting your macros?

I agree it could be that your meds need to be adjusted. FYI... I has the same problem with my glucose levels dropping to low and the doctor had to make adjustments to my meds.
