Keto Supplements

Well...Day 1 on the Keto diet will be tomorrow, and I have to be honest, I am a bit overwhelmed. There is a mountain of information available, and all of it is conflicting. Without being able to perform a blood test on myself everyday and monitor my electrolyte levels (sp. Potassium, Magnesium) - how do you know if you should be taking supplements? Too much potassium can be toxic, so it's not exactly something i'd like to just 'try for awhile and see what happens'....

I also have had kidney stones in the past, and if you've ever had one, you will understand why I hope I never have another. Any experience stones and what to avoid/do on this diet?

If you do take supplements, which ones? and why?

Hi RockyP.  The only supplement I take is Mg.  When I first started I had keto flu  and really bad night cramps and let me tell you those are the worst cramps in the world.  They were so bad I could not even get out of bed to try and walk them out.  I started taking mg each night before going to bed and sleep with a handheld neck massage on the bedside table.  The nights I did have cramps I found the only thing that would make them go away was to hold the massage on the knot at full power.  Oh and I also drink Smartwater and Lifewater.  They both have added electrolytes and though not much per bottle, since I drink 4 to 6 bottles a day it seems to help.  I haven't had any problems for over a month ( on keto 2 months)

Ditto on the magnesium for cramps. Potassium can be taken in very large doses before being toxic, I take it as mine was very low prior to Keto. I add pink Himalayan rock salt to most things I eat too.
