Adjusting protein/fat ratio for weight loss?

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for the input on daily fats. It’s been a little easier for me to reach my goals with the addition of MCT. My next question is whether adjusting macros for continued weight loss would be a good idea?

I’ve been VERY strict to adhering to under 15 net carbs a day and have had success with around 1lb of wt loss a week. My wedding is in 5 weeks and am hoping to reach my goal which is an additional 7lbs by Oct 18th.

Any thoughts of increasing protein to 30%? Therefore decreasing fat 65%? Currently on Keto 5/25/70. Would this possibly help for an increase in weight loss??

Thanks so much!

From Learn about Keto section in the "Keto for Total Beginners" article:

    #2) Higher Protein Intake

A standard ketogenic diet is higher in protein compared to the standard American diet. Contrary to popular opinion in the keto community, higher protein intake is actually good for you and will help you lose weight.

There’s a common fallacy that eating too much protein on keto will knock them out of a fat burning state. Some people believe this is due to excess protein turning into glucose -- kicking them out of ketosis -- through a process called gluconeogenesis (GNG).

But the truth is, GNG is an important metabolic pathway of the body. There are some organ function that can only survive off glucose. GNG will not ruin your ketogenic diet goals.

Protein is known as the most filling macro out of the three (protein, carbohydrates, fats). Higher protein consumption will help you stay fuller for longer periods of time.

Also, I'd recommend reading the article on How Much Protein Should I Eat in the same Learn About Keto section.

sodonnell888 There is really good information in those articles.  I'm afraid I had fallen for the too much protein shuts down Ketosis rumor, so I learned something too!
