Low carb bars etc

Anyone lose weight successfully while eating these for a meal replacement?  It seems I don’t lose weight as fast if I eat these bars over natural foods. I usually eat Quest bar for breakfast.

carbs are a bit high for what I am doing. Otherwise love those quest bars as well as those called Kind. Nice protein flush. For this, though, I don't think so ....

Rdown. I personally wouldn't ingest something that had any artificial sweetners. I have read this could cause stalls and not to mention more cravings for carbs. I try to avoid them at all costs if possible. Also. Total carbs may be something to look at even though net carb may be lower with fiber content.

To add to this- I didn't feel much fat loss eating ANY type of bars, even Atkins treats.

badmojomn agree totally artificial sweeteners trigger a 'sweet' alert to the brain which can't distinguish between artificial or real sugars, insulin is released into your blood stream to deal with the 'sugar' but there's nothing to do..... a/ it triggers hunger in you b/ that insulin goes into fat storage. I keep away from all sweetness ( former chocoholic knows how it feels). Eat real food, keep hard boiled eggs, nuts, avocado ever ready for 'but I don't have time'.

totally agree no sweeteners. The neurochemistry’s no good. Will make most folks want more carbs. Plus who knows what with deeper metabolism. So much better to become physiologically used to nothing sweet ! Good luck, all !

  • I never eat them now but I used to. I find that all the artificial ingredients make my body unhappy and I don't lose weight even though the carb counts are low.

  • soniakircher00 Have you tried xylitol? It's a fabulous sweetener, tastes just like sugar, and is made from birch trees so it doesn't mess with your insulin levels. And there's no bitter aftertaste. If you buy it, be sure it is made from birch trees and not from corn. I got a great price on Amazon. Message me if you want the brand name.

soniakircher00 I don't bake. Once a year maybe. On purpose. I'm really trying to avoid all artificial sweetners. It's best that way. I try to focus on Whole Foods if at all possible.  Once being fat adapted and I have a complete melt down for a sweet- I take unsweetened coconut shavings and melt a tiny bit of dark chocolate on there. Or I'll have some berries. All of this in the evening tho. Body burns it up first.
