Artificial sweeteners

This is day three on my Keto journey. I know artificial sweeteners are bad .....and so are diet drinks. However I can’t seem to go cold turkey with them.

My my question is regarding Splenda. Somewhere I read that it’s the powder form of Splenda that causes appetite spikes. Is this correct? Would the liquid form be a better option?

Have tried stevia but don’t really like the aftertaste.

Have read good things about monk fruit but have not tried it as yet.

Would appreciate any advice

thank you

  • This is somewhat controversial and to some degree depends on your make up, but I’m in the camp (with Jason Fung MD) that believes that any sweetner, artificial or not will cause an insulin reaction, which will cause your body to slow or stop fat burning and rev up the appetite. 😿 If you are not obese or pre-diabetic, artificial sweetners may have less impact on your system. That is not me, so, no more stevia for me. I’m already drinking mostly water, but did enjoy a Diet Coke several times a week. I’m drinking La Croix for a special treat now.

Urbanhiker with you 100% they spike insulin which then has nothing to do so triggers hunger signals trying to drive you to eat to occupy the insulin (layman’s lingo) lots of evidence to support this. Visit the self education finds section under low carb chatfor many links.
