How much protein is too much?

Hello. I don’t know if I’m taking in too much protein. I’m not going over my macro for it, but I’m not generally meeting the fat or protein macros. If I don’t balance it out with fat will the protein start to cause my insulin to rise?

  • Protein will cause insulin to rise to some extent, but not like sugar, starch and grains. I’m not an expert tho. Look at a Jason Fung MD or dietdoctor dot com for more professional advice if you are diabetic.

If you are staying in your protein macros you should be fine.

Eating fat to satisfaction is a good goal. If you are satisfied then going under your fat goal is ok your body will burn its own fat.

If you aren’t satisfied, are having cravings & hunger then aim to meet your fat & protein goals.

Going way under your protein goal can cause muscle loss but not just a little under.
