How much have you lost?

I have been doing Keto for about two weeks now and have not seen any weight loss. I have been feeling great, but wonder what should the expectations be for losing weight. I realize its based on individual goals, but curious to see how others have progressed. Can you all share how long you have been in Keto and how many lbs lost? Thanks!

  • I’ve been on keto since the last week of May and have lost 57 lbs. I hope to hit my goal weight by the new year.

Debi omg yes! Everything is so confusing. It’s like you try to research,  but can find it one way or some other way.  Is too much protein bad? Will it make you gain if your under your calories limit? Do you need to meet the fat macros or just eat fat for satiety? I’ve read so many contradicting things. That in itself is frustrating to me, along wit this slow progress.

  • diet123 I found the answer to ALL theses questions!

I left keto a week ago & joined weight watchers digital. It's the online version. I love it!

I eat canned peaches in their own juice everyday, & cheez it crackers, & I have my hazelnut coffee creamer in my coffee again...& I'm losing weight. I was sick on keto all the time, & didn't get enough carbs to even be healthy.

I've deleted keto everything, & this blog will be next.

    Good riddance keto!

carbs and calories are limits, protein is a goal, and fat for the rest of your calories. Fat is fuel, your sources of energy to replace glucose from carbs. If at the end of the day you feel good and satisfied don’t eat more fat just to meet the percentage.  The only thing it takes to be in ketosis is low carbs not the amount of fat you eat.  Most people maintain ketosis easily at 20-30g a day. Protein is essential it prevents  muscle loss as you lose weight. Weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week.  As for on line info try Tuit Nutrition with Amy Berger for simplified and correct info.  She wrote the book on using keto in the treatment of Alzheimers so she’s not just another keto influencer selling their version of keto.

It’s good you jumped off the bandwagon you were on and found something that worked for you.

debra06201374ad There is a feature called “Smart Macros” where the app will recalculate your macros for you as you log weight losses in the app. Pretty handy. I think the recipe ideas alone are worth paying for the premium version.

  • I've been doing it for a week and one day now and I'm down 3lbs. I think the hard part was eating out yesterday, but I managed it! I didnt let the fries on the menu get to me and ordered a hamburger (removed the bun) with lettuce, red onion and blue cheese and a side of steamed broccoli (which is my favorite vegetable anyway). No soda or tea, I just had 3 glasses of water in one sitting.

On day 14 and down 17 lbs from a starting weight of 277.  I realize that most of this early weight loss is probably water but I’ll take it! I’ve remained true to a strict Keto diet with no cheats but disappointed only trace Ketones are showing up in my urine tests.  Carbs are always 5% or lower and I’ve been reducing my protein intake too. I’m pretty sedentary (<5000 steps/day) so I guess that’s next on my to do list. I’m still anxious to be in Ketosis, though.

I am four weeks and was just like you. I was persistent though because I felt great and had so much energy. I'm at 11 pounds now. Keep going. It will catch up with you.

I was doing Keto religiously last year and in approx 5 months only lost a whole 2 lbs.  Changed my Macros etc to no avail.  Really was frustrated as others tend to drop the weight.  I gave it a good break over the holidays and really ate whatever and whenever, only to weigh in and have put the 2 lbs back on.  Some folk on the Forum suggested I ask the doctor for tests ... anyone able to say what tests are required?  Desperate to get back into this way of eating.

  • Kimbizee  I would suggest a thyroid and hormone panel if you followed a strict diet with a calorie defecit and still didn't lose.

  • Kimbizee I would check your doctor or your food, you should lose 10 lbs in the first month from just the water the water weight... it’s near impossible to restrict your carbs to 20 or less and not lose.. has to be medical or hidden carbs

  • I've just stumbled across his discussion. I am thinking of joining a keto diet myself and doing a little research on it. I wonder whether, after 3 years, you still keep this diet?
