How much have you lost?

I have been doing Keto for about two weeks now and have not seen any weight loss. I have been feeling great, but wonder what should the expectations be for losing weight. I realize its based on individual goals, but curious to see how others have progressed. Can you all share how long you have been in Keto and how many lbs lost? Thanks!

Moondrake Congrats on your hard work!

You might want to try zig zag on the calories....instead of staying at only 1200 calories for 177lbs.

When I got stuck...I actually pigged out one day (while keeping carbs still under)...I lost a pound that week.

Or 2nd thing would be to try to increase your activity just a little...walk around the block or something a few times a week.

KC Good advice.  I do zig-zag lot, although on the wrong side of the goal. I tend to eat too few calories when I get busy. I have to work to get those 1200 in. that's why I started having lunches since the weather got warm and I'm busy all the time.  On days when I have an opportunity to eat extra and I'm hungry, I might eat an extra hundred calories or so.  I had started walking the dogs, but in an effort to correct them when they got excited about a cat I pulled my back out and it took an uncharacteristic three weeks to start feeling better.   Together they weigh 240lbs, walking them on tandem lead is challenging. Today I decided to just take them out one at a time, which breaks the heart of whichever one gets left behind. But I took Zephyr for a 1.75 mile walk this morning before it got too hot. My neighborhood is very uncomfortable to walk in, no shade, no sidewalks, narrow streets lined with cars, steeply hilly. It was 92 today, summer is here. I'm going to try to get out with Tempest tomorrow.

Tomorrow will make 3 weeks for me.  Forgot to weigh this morning. However when I weighed in Thursday morning I was down 19.2 lbs. Feel great. Sleep a lot better. Not sure if that’s due to the diet or the fact I’ve cut out sodas therefore consuming less caffeine. Maybe it’s both.

Please, don’t get discouraged. We’re unique. Looking at the responses there’s a range of what folks have lost over their time in. A lot of variables at play. Work, activity, general overall health, goals, food choices just to name a few of many factors. I wish you the best in achieving your goals.

KC Congrats. I don’t get the whole BMI thing. I’m guessing it’s just a general guideline & not a carved in stone sort of thing.  For my vertically challenged tail I’d have to drop down to 101-141 lbs. No way in Hades I’ll get down to that. I’d look like Christian Bale in The Machinist.

@shortguy true the bmi  is a guideline for sure....for instance if weight lifting, you will be heavier from the compactness of more muscle.

If I go lower than the middle of my bmi ....I too would look pretty scraggly  :)

Moondrake good plan on starting up with lunch again....it sounds like your body is not going to let anymore weight go... maybe because you're not hitting 1200 consistently ??? Its an evolution thing :)  Its trying to store up "some" energy for the tundra months.

"Big puppies" are the best....my boy is 90 lbs and a big goober :)

KC Actually it looks like dropping soy and dairy for the month of April have made a big difference.  Now I just have to closely watch what happens when I reintroduce them.  Cheese can be an occasional treat, but I at least want butter back, and I'd like to have HWC.

I went full speed ahead with keeping my carbs under 30 grams (usually can't even hit 20) for 4 months now and have lost 12 lbs.  It took a while for the scale to move, but my clothes were noticeably looser and I had many people comment on how thin I looked. I'm a true believer that with this way of life, you lose inches before lbs. If it were lbs. before inches, it'd probably be just water weight lost in the beginning anyway. But I'm no expert.  I also find that the less you have to lose, the slower it is. I'm 5'6" and weight 144 now.

I've been doing low carb off and on, with mostly on, for over 15 years now to keep my weight at a comfortable level. It's the only thing I find that I can stick to. As hard as it sometimes can be!

darjak541 I've cut my use of ibuprofen by 50-75% since starting keto.  With the reduced inflammation, it seems like a lot of my headaches went away, too.  Have you ever tried butterbur?  I use a product called Migra Defense that includes it. I take it at the first sign of a migraine it really reduces the impact.  Read up on butterbur.

I started this past Monday so it’s been 6 days of keto so far and I’ve already lost 7lbs!  I’m so excited!  I really turned to keto to reduce my blood sugar but the weight loss is an added bonus!

Gina  thank you!  I’ve actually noticed that for the first time in months, I’ve been able to sleep through the entire night without getting up to pee. That’s pretty exciting for me too!

debra06201374ad Pretty good.  No change in my weight since the start of the month, but my clothes are feeling baggy and I'm fitting into things that didn't fit a couple of weeks ago.  I'm not going overboard, though.
