Hi , I am lulabell

I am a senior citizen that has probably tried every diet know to humankind. I have just about always been 20 lbs. overweight . I try to eat healthfully but sugar has always been my downfall but feel most sweeteners are very unhealthy.  Can anyone explain the difference between low carb and Keto ? I have been watching you tube videos and learned a lot. I started worrying when I gained about 3 - 5 lbs. during lockdowns . By keeping carbs 20-40 daily I have lost about 3 lbs. but would like to continue . I have been looking for a forum and arrived here.

  • To answer your question. Keto is a low carb diet. The carbs are low enough that your body will start to convert fat into to ketones which is where the term keto comes from. Your body then uses the ketones as energy.

Low carb can really mean anything. If you are eating less carbs then you used to then technically you could call that a low carb diet but it may not be low enough for your body to enter into ketosis.

The point of the keto diet is to reduce carbs low enough so that your body produces ketones.
