Hi, everyone!

Hi Robert, its like your talking about me! lol Bread and pasta are my favourites. I can help you with the bread part but sadly Ive not found a great replacement for pasta. The keto diet uses things like squash or zucchini in place of lasagna and spaghetti and other pasta. I personally don't like either vegetable. Anyways... the Diet Doctors Keto Bread is fantastic! Its only downfall is it is expensive to make and doesn't make a lot for the amount of ingredients used. So in the beginning, I started with $40 for each of the 2 items to help get me started. Then I just buy $15 - $25 each on each payday. I know its a hard chunk of cash to drop but I look at it this way. Its a whole lot cheaper than many diet programs and I don't "actually" have to have it... unless I want a good bread lol.

  • Diane52, thanks for the encouraging words. I know getting started on Keto will be expensive, and I hope to recoup money by being healthier and having lass medical expenses.

  • Robert Reichler For me personally, the extra expense of the keto diet has been offset by the amount of money I had previously spent on beer and spirits.  Just my experience.  Best of luck!

Hey Bob, welcome to the forum!

I used to be an emotional eater, and loved to bake my own bread and make my own pasta.  No more, though.

I found I had the best results when I just knuckled down and stopped eating things that were raising my blood glucose and spiking my insulin.   In 15 months I’ve dropped my A1C way down from diabetic levels to lower-normal, along with my cholesterol and BP.   Dropped over 65-lbs too, and have been in the ‘maintenance phase’ for about 8-9 months.

I tracked Total Carbs rather than Net Carbs, cut out flours, pasta, beans, fruits, of course all sugars (real and imitation such as Stevia), and certainly no snacking between means (to allow insulin levels to drop).

I feel great, no carb cravings in 6+ months, and cannot ever imagine going back to the old me.   Certainly NOT suggesting that my way is the only way that works, but that substantial changes are possible and reap phenomenal and sustainable results.

May I suggest googling ‘The Carb Addiction Doc’ - Dr Bob Cywes has a YouTube channel that I think you might find informative.

I hope this helps and good luck!
