Heart Health concerns for overs 50's

Hello well I've been into Keto 14 days have lost 9 lbs. Talked with daughter she has concerns about high fat not being heart healthy. So been reachering  more and decided to experiment and have a bowl of oats for break fast carb are out of keto range but it's one day .

    hey there what are you saying here ??? PLEASE DON’T LEAVE !!!

    I’ll share with you that I had a practice in Montana in which I used weight loss and exercise training to get quite a lot of folks off their  blood pressure / cholesterol / diabetic drugs and many others down in dose. Many did this and they came  to me to do it. We had support groups ( ha like this but in a room !) we involved diet coaches and got in on a hot springs tub for swimming. 

    Back then it was w food choices and calorie in/out balance. Most had weight goals but we targeted Food Lists, EX Logs and BP, glucose measures, cholesterol and muscle tone and bulk qualitatively.  I had only heard of Atkins and rejected it because I believed all that saturated fat had to be bad. 

    Now for me, I’m real bugged that I’ve not til now been able to drop down to 120-125 on my own. Why who knows but that is me. I’ve got plenty padding still at 5’5” and don’t think I’m anywhere near wanting underweight for me. SO-O Delighted 😀 to have found this which finally seems to work for me and maybe even more to have found all of you in community !  Have especially appreciated your posts, wamdesigns as well as several others, Joanna , KBG , ,   and surely others ( ha ha just learned how to use that thing @ to post names)

    Oh let me just say that I’m down to 132 fm 137 (in a week!) unheard of ! For me ) and feeling better in my bod - not down further yet. I mis-typed there to say I’d  already gotten to where I want to be. 

    ALSO, my terming  my experimental excursions “cheats” was just to use a familiar vernacular. I guess I’m thinking ahead  a bit ( for me) and real interested to discover whether or not this keto strategy can be used like a medicine or healing agent once one is down at or near goal. For each of us, I’m sure that’s individual.  

    I do also totally get your caveat that such an idea might be real bad , disasterous for some one with a sugar addiction. Got that ! But then I’d think each of us can see our own.

    I’d sure like to see this tool for a real wide use. So please do forgive me if stumbled into the land of never say that - I surely didn’t mean to 

    lol if we’re loling together !

    Yah thanks a lot and this underlying gets into a lot of things.  I’ve no idea what we’d all look like to each other sitting around a room. You’re likely correct that a lot of us are truly overweight and then some even more for some folks. But we might also be surprised 😮 that there might quite a few like me as well. We are mostly women and have been socialized to feel a certain way abt our bodies and our body goals etc.

    We also had a support group in which we talked about experiences socially in this world. So much research abt how overweight comes about - it’s nobody’s fault and nobody deserves to be treated poorly. 

    Although I do feel my own goal does feel healthy for me, I’ve no idea how I’d feel if our society told us that I’d “look” best oh you know - uber sleek and sexy etc etc if I put on another 5-10 # from here. Maybe I wouldn’t have this goal at all. But I do and it’s translared into how I actually feel physically - done deal lol.

    AND,  our talking here so purely - no visual is really so great for all of us don’t you think ?  Just skip any visual judgement for everyone - that goes both ways lol

    yatesa12 I really didn't follow any of what you just posted, however with such a low BMI already - loosing more fat or muscle mass can be crossing crosshairs so to speak. You probably should consult with a nutrionist for professional help in your goals. Ketogenic can people helpful for people in all BMI, but lower BMI I have researched can put on mass. Not sure that's what your looking for.

    Yah that was a digression - I will be able to read on this next week. Might be that I shd be sure to add plenty fat while ketotic so that’s burning along with mine and before any muscle. Might also start some gentle weight lifting 🏋️ just a bit each day for muscle.  Still want to maintain keto state per strips and see a slow but steady drop in weight. Still 10-12 to go lol.  Thanks for ur support !
