Recipe Builder

It would be helpful if there was a recipe feature where we could add individual ingredients and get a breakdown per serving of the protein, fat and carbs.

I just create the recipe and designate how many servings it is, then save the recipe. Then view the recipe as a food item and select 1 serving.

marthafarmerb1f5 Well, I don't think much of the free version of MFP (for many, many reasons) and am not willing to pay them money to find out if the commercialism of the app is mitigated for premium members. Plus CM is cheaper, it fits my needs, and most of the users are doing low carb or keto . 😊

I do think the MFP database is pretty extensive, though. The recipe feature might also be useful to the OP.

  • Update as the old instruction is out of date: Hi all - to create a recipe, please go to My Foods -> Recipes. This is a free feature.

    Please see https://wombatapps.helpshift.com/a/carb-manager/?s=recipes-meals-custom-foods&f=creating-a-recipe&p=all

Carb Manager I can’t seem to be able to do that in your “meal plan” recipes. I am being bombarded with lamb, I would like to change the meat type or ingredient in the recipe.

Carb Manager what if I want to calculate how many calories/macros an ingredient has once it's been fried for example? Specifically, I found tempeh, but can't make the recipe manager tell me how many calories etc it would be once i fry it

    Thanks

  • Carb Manager  I am using the free version at this time. I love that I can create recipes and then add them to my daily log, but what I would LOVE EVEN MORE is if when I add the recipe, it adds all of the items individually so that I can edit each of the items.

For example if I make a recipe of 2c lettuce + 2TBSP dressing, and add that to my daily log, i might want to decrease my carbs by taking down the dressing to 1TBSP. I currently can't do that unless i go in and edit my recipe.

    Thank you!

  • I created a recipe by adding individual ingredients but am unable to set serving size. Meaning I made a loaf of Keto bread. How do I split that into 2 ounces per slice to get equivalent macro info?

  • Joyful how do you decide how much is a serving of whatever meal you create?  Do you base a serving size by calories, carbs, or  do you weigh a portion size?  After I create a meal I don't know if to make a serving of food a cup (8 ounces) or half a cup (4 ounces).

You set the parameters.  If you are going to always eat a full cup for a serving, you choose a cup for the serving size.  Then you find out how many cups of that food the recipe makes, and use that for the number of servings.

  • I would like to see macros for home made yogurt using whole milk, no sweetener, plain starter, and drained of all the whey. I understand the more whey you drain the less carbs. Recipe builder does't take that into account.
