Hello- I am fat

Hello everybody. I have been using Carb Manager for nearly 2 years (premium) and didn't realize this existed.  I am 42 and 100 pounds overweight. I have been LCHF/Keto on and off for over 3 years. I lose then get excited and treat myself. then cheat then eat crap then feel crappy and eat to feel better... well you know. I have never had a positive relationship with my mom (who is also obese, has arthritis and replaced joints and sleeps in her chair) Anyway last week she said "girls like us..." meaning out of shape and overweight. I cannot fail - I cannot quit on myself again.  I do yoga weekly and have everything I want in ways of exercise equipment at my fingertips -- hoping I can be accountable to you all.  Welcome to my day 1 (again)

    Hello Becky I cannot believe you鈥檝e been alone for 2 years. I could not do this without the warmth & generous people sharing here. So number 1/ you are no longer alone 馃 2/ we need to teach you that you deserve to reward yourself with pamper things; then nice clothes ~ not foods that hurt you, you only have one life and you are NOT your mother.

    Exercise whilst really important is not the main thing to focus on at the beginning ~ get your diet right and your head into the zone come first. If I could introduce you to the self education thread there is a brilliant book Keto Clarity by Jimmy Moore I am still listening to my copy but boy have I learnt a lot. Also Keto-Christina who has lost 102lbs so far & is a sugar & carb addict like me.

  • Hi Becky! You aren鈥檛 alone!  I鈥檝e been doing keto for about a week and a half and I can鈥檛 believe how good I feel. I started walking with my dogs every day and I noticed such a difference. Today I had a nice salad with 2 cups of lettuce, olives, bacon bits, and some chopped up ham and I don鈥檛 feel deprived at all. If your  relationship with your mother affects your life, then visit her on your terms. If she begins to act inappropriate or say inappropriate things, then let her know that you will come back to visit when she can be nice. I鈥檓 a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I hear this more often than not. And I did the same with my mother years ago! Joanna has some great sites on keto info that I find really helpful! You can do it!

    Becky! Hug to you. So sorry you're fighting so hard on this dieting. But you said you treat yourself and then you eat because you are disappointed in yourself. Let me tell you that you can get real help for that. It's a medical problem you're possibly fighting. I'm hesitant to even write this here out in the open like this. But besides loving food, depression can do this and ruin your hard work on your weight loss journey. It may not be medicine you need, but therapy one on one or a group can help. The reason I say that is, I never had weight problems until I got unhappy and used my pass time with food. It of course spiraled out of control. I got help with a Therapist and recognized what actually triggered me to eat so much and why I couldn't stop. We got to the problem, it was bigger then just willpower. Without medication I could fix that behavior and found the Adkins diet and all I eat was 20 grams of carbs for 8 Months and lost finally 50 lbs. I regained later 40 because I fell back and I am back on my 20 grams of carbs. Now they just call it Keto diet and add more fat and took off more protein. I'm a fan of the extreme low carbs because it works. But if your mind is not there 100% it may be beneficial to get help for the mind. A group that has answers, that went through the same you fight with right now. It may sound harsh, but your Mom is not helping, there are no girls like "us". No one wants to be that girl and you sure aren't. You started this diet and had weight loss. I'm very positive that if you talk to a therapist on this subject, you two will find a solution. Then with this great diet, you will win. I apologize if I stepped onto your toes, but I believe you can have your dream come true.

    I have found, that people may follow your footsteps as you start loosing body fat.  See, they don't believe in this lifestyle. It's amazing. My mom has to buy new jeans now. She's just watching what I am doing and avoiding certain foods.

    wamdesigns Good! I definitely  have an emotional eating problem that led to my body fat over the decades. I caught myself slipping recently, and even thought about it first. And after. "Why did I just take some of those wafers". I had a bad day at work and realized I really shouldn't do that again. I was emotional.
