Second time around trying KETO

Hi et all.. just stopping in to say hello. I was full on KETO Jan to Sept 2016 and gradually somehow I found my way back to eating almost like I did prior to KETO.  I LOST 80 LBS and gained 50 back in the last year. So here I am.. back at it again.. I know better as I was successful at it hence my decision to start KETO again vs WW. There is no on and off the program for me.. so KETO it is as I'm never hungry.  I've come to realize  I'll always have to fight my addiction to carbs and will always need to track my macros because if I don't, it doesn't take long to gain weight back. I'm grateful for and really like this APP.. it's so tailored to my style of how I need to  track my macros.  Any hoot... it took seven days  to get into ketosis.. with 20 net carbs a day. Wishing everyone success on the journey

~ Kaitlyn

Wow, great for you Kaitlyn !  I think it is so great that this method is attracting folks like you - people who will really think about what they’re doing and using these tools. Best of luck and wishes on your journey back !

Hello Kaitlyn, I just want to say hello and thank you for your honesty.  As I am only seven weeks into the this, I found you your story very moving. It helps me and others I am sure, realise that Keto is a lifestyle not a diet and that due to my addiction to carbs I too am going to have to stay controlled to maintain  optimum health for the rest of my days. I look forward to getting to know you as time passes.

My current favourite read, & yes I keep telling everyone, is Keto Clarity ( audiobook for me) by Jimmy Moore extremely good.

Hello Joanna, thanks for your response.  I have that book on my tablet as well... although, have not read it end to end yet :-) Found it most interesting when I first started KETO as I was worried about eating so much fat.  I kept fat out of my diet all my life because for some reason or another, I thought that fat would make me fatter.  From my perspective, I truly believe it's how we're conditioned to think because of the pharmaceutical industry (at least here in Canada) let's not tell ppl how we can make them healthier..  let's make them sicker so we can pump med's into them and get richer.  I never bought into the meds perspective and I'm most thankful and surprised that my body hasn't given out on me yet at the tender age of 59,

keves1 it’s shocking that they have us doing the same low fat, reduced calorie diets over & over again. .... yet they fail and global obesity grows. Wake Up! I love some of the doctors stories in the book where they admit until gaining & trying to lose weight themselves, they were arrogant, ingnorant & assumed patients lied...  the book really put to bed my fear of fats & my recent bloods confirm I am now getting it right 🙌 us 😀

Well, let me say this - I am totally awed by what I am reading on these pages ! Although I've helped folks get off their diabetic/BP/cholesterol meds by working with them on their diet exercise routines as well as often emotional/mental health (I'm a med-psych), I NEVER had these tools. And because the only thing I had was the energy in - energy out routine plus my own, well, maybe kindness and ability to communicate with people, I guess that's what it was when I was able to contribute to folks' success - Because that's all I really had to offer, my patients never felt or were as utterly EMPOWERED as what I'm seeing here. This whole thing here is really powerful. Ha ha and really so are you all - and so are we !!!

Hey Katilin - wonder if you'd like to have a look at a thread that  carbkiller001 started with  Joanna and yatesa12 I participating in - it's called Progress Report under Progress here. Seems like you'd like it just fine and we would love you in it : )
