Tell me something. I binged in two doughnuts- yea I had a weakness today.

Tell me why my blood ketones were .4 before a two doughnut binge and three hours later ketone blood reading 1.1.

You work backwards? Congratulations! Seriously, not a clue. Did you happen to check blood sugar as well?

Actually, hang on. The ketones we measure whether in urine, breath, or blood are all either wasted or just not being used as far as I understand it. So… donut in equals instant sugar energy and less need for ketones so your body wastes them??? Best guess with my just enough scientific knowledge to be dangerous level of understanding on ketones.

I have since asked for confirmation on ketone waste vs use from another forum. According to that, the ketones expelled in urine and breath are waste whereas the ketones in blood are still in our body (obviously) but have not yet been used. So, in your case of the donut binge this sort of makes sense. Your body was using ketones prior to eating the donuts and then after eating them possibly your body switched to using the instant sugar and so the ketone level in your blood built up as it wasn't being used. This seems logical to me but I am conjecturing.
