Pieology Cauliflower Crust Nutrition?

I’ve recently found that my local Pieology carries a cauliflower crust pizza. I can’t find any nutritional info online, and when I called, the person answering said they didn’t know :/ Anyone have a link or info?

Jenna Simmons is that the package for their cauliflower crust, I take it? 32 NC for one slice seems outrageous to me.... anyone else?

Also, I found this for the regular white crust. It’s 92.4 NC for the entire pizza. If the pic above is correct, that means an entire cauliflower crust pizza would be 256 NC!!! 🤯😱

Maybe it’s 32 NC for the whole pizza, not just 1 slice?? 🤷🏻♀️

  • Jennifer I asked about that as well, and the manage said it was for the whole crust (the 78g), but that it was worded strangely. I hope that helps! :)

  • Im so sad. Im on the keto diet and was hoping this crust was going to he acceptable.  I guess not. I knew it was too good to be true. Someone told me that the cauliflower crust has rice flower in it too. Can anyone confirm?

  • I got some CaliFlour pizza crusts. A little expensive, but delicious and worth it, if you love pizza. They are vacuum packed and shelf stable for a short time. I put mine in the freezer since I don’t eat them that often. 1-2 NC per serving. https://www.califlourfoods.com/

  • This is the link on the pieology website. Definitely has rice flower, starch,  brown rice, and yeast so not keto friendly.

  • Christi O'Daniel I, too, am keto.  Last weekend, my 2 month anniversary of going keto, I ate half of a Margarita with Red Sauce Cauliflower Crust Pizza from Pieology.     I had not read any  nutrition info but decided it had to fit my macros.  I also had a whole Unwich from Jimmy John's subs - their keto sub (lettuce wrapped).  Their meat is all uncured and perfect for keto.  I had their Big Italian (Italian Night Club) sub and ate it all.  (I know...lots of food that day.)
To answer your question -  none of that kicked me out of ketosis.  I typically run around 1.8 on the blood ketone meter, and the next morning, I again read 1.8
Hope this helps!!  (Oh, and the pie was insanely good!!  I'd been eating Portobella Pizzas before that, but to  hold real slices and gobble them down was so much better.)

  • Dana Handbury Ooh, glad to hear about Jimmy Johns. I got CaliFlour cauliflower crusts to make my own pizza and have been pleased with them. I went to mellow mushroom the other night and ordered a pizza, no crust. We all laughed, but when the pizza came, I proceeded to scrape off the toppings and leave the crust. Everyone was shocked! 😹 I am still surprised that restaurants aren’t more “Keto aware.”

Your best bet would be to make your own, that way YOU control what's in it. Yeah, it's not as convenient, but you don't have to rely on them telling you what's in it.

Personally, my favorite that I've had was the fathead dough. Looks and tastes like a real crust!

  • Jennifer there is absolutely no way for cauliflower crust to be 32 NC for one slice. The crust is all vegetable. Interesting. Definitely needs more research.

Update on the Pieology Cauliflower Crust: the serving of "1 Slice" shown on the package is actually for an entire pizza crust. The manager explained to me that they come in a large pack of 10 individual pizza crusts, so the reference is to 1 slice is just that it's 1 of the many in the pack.

Much better numbers now that this is cleared up, but still not quite as keto-friendly as I had hoped.

  • Christi O'Daniel yes it has brown rice flour so definitely not keto.  I tried it and it spiked my blood sugar over 200. No wonder!

  • My husband and I stopped after the beach. I was so hungry that I ate half a pie loaded with veggies and some ham and cheeese. thinking I was staying on my low carb diet I asked the guy working and he showed me this from his notebook. Lesson learned...but it sure tasted good. I make it at home but it is labor intensive so only make it occassionaly. I think we should all write the company to have them come up with a actual low carb crust.

  • I just wrote to them on this link and suggested they change recipe or let people know what they are getting.  Only takes a few minutes to submit. I wonder if anyone knows where to buy very low carb crust as it would be such a time saver! Thanks

  • Barbara Keating-Wolk  I’ve heard great things about this site’s products but I haven’t tried first hand.https://www.outeraislegourmet.com/

I should’ve researched a bit more before I dove into the cauliflower crust at Pieology today. It tasted too “real”, I’ll trust my judgement next time.

scjudd1986 The problem is social.  My friends and I eat out together a lot and I have become a real drag on the group as I am still trying to find my way to keto at restaurants without breaking the bank.  A lot of places are charging me ridiculous prices to special order simple keto meals.  The only place I've found that is genuinely flexible and fair about altering menu items is Denny's.  My friends are getting tired of Denny's.  I wish that either more restaurants would offer keto options, or I was rich enough to not mind paying top prices for middling meals.

  • Shamay Rodriguez Thanks for the info! That is so discouraging!!! They are just jumping on the cauliflower band wagon! Might as well eat a regular crust! Ugh!

Vannessa White I've been getting the Outer Aisle crusts at Whole Foods. The whole crust is the size of a small dinner plate, very thin more like a tortilla. The whole crust has only four carbs. Also only four ingredients: parmesan cheese, cauliflower, nutritional yeast, and egg. Totally keto friendly. I brush both sides with olive oil and crisp it up in the toaster oven, then put on a pesto or alfredo sauce and top with tomatoes, kalamata olives, Greek peppers and goat cheese crumbles. Bake in the toaster oven for another 20 minutes or so, super delicious.  it would also make a great quesadilla although I haven't used one for that yet.
