  • Hang in there. Don't give up. You never know, success could be right around the next turn. You got this!!

  • I'm on day 4 and have been managing to keep my carbs under 20! Remember it's only net carbs.. not total carbs! I've been eating eggs and bacon for breakfast! And Turkey burgers, no bread, with cheese and avocado! I've been having fish with a low carb veggie. Just giving you some examples for some low carb/ no carb. Also COOKBOOKS are your best friend

  • Hi all, I am on day one and confused whether I should be having 20g total carbs or net carbs. My total today is 40g but net is 20g. My protein is way under but fats around the right limit. This is a total new concept to me after years and years of low fat food!

  • Sam A lot of folks count net, thinking that fiber doesn’t count.  But it does - here’s a post from a site that I often refer to as it has some excellent medical discussions about the keto process.

Should I count net carbs or total carbs?

Dr. Stephen Phinney and the Virta Team

We recommend counting total carbohydrates, with the most of your food coming from real, whole foods.

With some exceptions, unprocessed non-starchy vegetables, nuts and seeds contain a relatively small (<25%) of their total carbs as soluble fiber. The use of net carbs 1) assumes there is little to no impact of both fiber and sugar alcohols on blood sugar (responses can vary among individuals so discounting them is not appropriate) and 2) often promotes the use of a lot of products like bars, low carb breads, etc. While they may be “low in net carbs” this can lead to a significant amount of added carbohydrates to your daily total.

Just food for thought (no pun intended)

Hope this helps an informed decision.
