Carb count on an egg

Can someone explain why 1 whole raw egg is 0 carbs, but 1 hardboiled egg is 1 carb?

  • I’m confused by this too - and disappointed there wasn’t an answer to your question! Everything I read states eggs have less than 1 gram of carbs but 2 scrambled eggs (with nothing else added) is 2 carbs? What am I missing?

I think it's a user source issue. It's my understanding that these nutrition entries are posted by us members, so there are some that are way off. When I looked up eggs I think that they had something like .6 carbs in a large egg. It may vary by brand, based on what the chickens are fed. I just go with an entry that assigns .6-1 carb per egg.  but then, I don't eat very many eggs, so this doesn't have a big impact on me. I'd imagine if you're doing an egg fast, or you eat 2 eggs every morning for breakfast, it makes a big difference. If there's a brand of eggs you favor, go to their website, and look for nutritional information. You can make your own entry.
