Macros vs Calories

When you are tracking, do you follow your macros or your calories? I always go over my calories quite a bit if I meet my macros but am low on macros if I stick to calories.  Curios how others fair.

I think tracking macros is most effective for weight loss on keto. I still lose weight if my macros are spot-on but I'm over in calories.

I only track total carbs ( not even those 100% now I am experienced and near to goal). As you progress and learn to listen to ‘your’ body you should focus on eating only when hungry and stopping when satisfied that way the calories take care of themselves. I keep Keto simple, I hate tracking. Dr Westman, Go Keto with Casey and so many many others keep Keto simple. 🌷

Joanna I originally only tracked carbs so could keep track in my head.  But then my evaluations at the gym said I was losing muscle because I wasn't getting enough protien.  So that's how I ended up here.  That seems the be the macro that is hard for me to reach with out going over.  It takes VERY purposeful eating of REALLY minimizing carbs in my food so I can eat a couple of protien bars a day to make it happen.  Yesterday, no protein bars and I was 47 g short I think.

love2bmommy  ah now gym bunnies can lead a different life 😀 I love eggs in any form, steak..... 😋 prefer them to bars but whatever works best for you. Dr Jason Fung talks about exercising fasted so that your Body devours spare/excess skin which is excess protein (according to your body) stored on obese people who shrink, that way Keto folks so rarely need skin removal surgery. A good gym instructor will keep you guided, calories ultimately matter more than macros but you only need to consider them if you stall for 4 weeks or more. It is the absence of carbohydrates that keeps you in ketosis. 🌷

It certainly helps, again listen to your own body, feed it when it asks you but don’t feel pressured to eat by others. I am not advocating anorexia 😂🤣😂
