Hi! I'm a 60 year old hippy type chick!

I started keto on October 8th, 2018, weighing 165 lbs, with a goal of loosing 20 lbs by Christmas day.  Today, December 18, I'm down 17 lbs to 148 lb! Wow! That's is a total of 72 days, loosing about 1/4 lb a day average. I think I'll be pretty close to 145 lbs by Christmas! Yay! This journey has been very challenging and difficult at times. I've been as diligent as possible in keeping an honest food log, weighing and measuring everything. It's been totally worth it.  During the first few weeks, I had Keto Flu pretty bad. Lots of leafy greens, extra magnesium, extra pink salt and potassium helped a lot.  I look and feel better now. Cloths are fitting nicely. My body pain/inflammation is way less. No more chronic indigestion. No more irritable bowl. My hair, skin and nails look great! Better cognitive abilities. My blood sugar dropped from 100 (pre diabetic) to 82! My husband has been very supportive by eliminating all sugar and extra carbs from his diet, even though he was barely over weight. He lost 10 lbs. His migrains have stopped. His indigestion has stopped. His snoring has stopped. His memory is better.  Other things have also improved...wink, wink. We've decided that sugar and unnecessary - unhealthy carbs are an evil force against good health! Merry Christmas! God bless you all!

Jen Thanks Jen! Merry Christmas! As of this morning, I lost one more pound. That is a miracle, considering what I ate yesterday at our family's  Christmas eve dinner. I was asked to bring my famous scalloped potatoes and lemon bars. Serious carb bombs right there! And I ate a bunch of other crap! Haha! I've heard that being in keto will help us process the occasional naughty carbs and still stay somewhat fat adapted. Thank God....for Keto and the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ!

This is what I needed to read this morning - thanks!  I'm only 7 days in and down 7 lbs, but I know based on experience that this is where it slows down to about 1-2 lbs per week.  I need to lose about 30 more, so reading your story is very motivating.

  • tj-jeri:  Your progress is fantastic.  My apple watch is connected to my phone and records my exercise everyday.  It seems like my macronutrients for protein and fats are way too high, and very close in range.  I stay below 25 grams for net carbs.  Can I ask what your proportions are?
