Ketones in urine but not losing weight :( Wtf?

Hi, been Keto for 7 days. First day lost 3 lbs. nothing more since then. Got a lab/urine test two days ago and ketone levels were high (2.0)

any idea why I’m plateauing so early on?

  • Are you tracking your calories? Still have to stay within your daily allowance. Also, water intake is big, and getting enough fiber.

0881d060d87d  keep in mind fat loss doesn’t happen in days. Your body has to transition over to fat fueling. Have you spent some time reading the posts here? Your gonna have to have a better attitude with Keto and weight loss then “WTF”.

Yup tracking Calories and fat 75/protein 20/carbs/5.

Drinking  over 1L water daily..in fact I keep having to wake up to pee in the middle of the night.

Just surprised/frustrated Bc I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Clearly the ketones indicate that my body is burning fat for fuel. But my weight isn't changing.

badmojomn if you have nothing helpful/supportive to say, pls keep ur comments to urself thx. Being confused and frustrated is normal and it's directed at the PROCESS. Ur comments about my attitude are directed towards ME. So maybe you need to check YOUR attitude. Thx. Bye.  ✌️

0881d060d87d The fat loss comes slowly, you may not see a lot in the first week, it can take weeks, months, and I was being supportive. Your header was kind of offensive to me.

how is this person saying wtf offensive? Your response was offensive. People have the right to be upset and confused if they aren’t losing or seeing the results they expect. I will never understand people who feel the need for rude responses. Next time just skip the freaking post if you are gonna be rude. Jesus.

  • My mom is going through the same thing right now. She has been in keto  for a while now. Have you tried watching any Dr.fung videos? He would probably be much more helpful in understanding what's going on with your body. If I'm not mistaken it could be an insulin resistance issue or it may just be taking your body a little extra time to adapt? I know it's frustrating when you hear others say they lost 10lbs in a week. I tried keto a few years back, and I went pretty hard core with tracking every carb that went in my body. I tried for 6 wks. I couldn't even get into keto and only dropped 3 lbs.  I hated it! I wouldn't get too frustrated just yet, but maybe keep in mind what I said about insulin resistance. Also I think our hormones play a role in how we hold onto fat . Like I said watch dr.fung if you haven't yet. He's awesome

Up your fat. It's so hard to wrap your head around this, at least for me, but up your fat without raising your protein. Add butter or bacon grease to cooking. Just try it for two wks and see.

  • I agree with  making sure your eating enough fat.  It seems counter intuitive, but when your body sees no carbs and excess fat...it decides fats are not scarce, so it chooses to uses your body’s stored fats.  Best fats to use are medium chain fatty acids.  (MCT oil).  I a tablespoon in my coffee every morning along with a tablespoon of heavy cream.  Surprisingly, it can be hard for some people to eat enough fats when carbs are not in the picture.

And as an aside, the closer you are to your goal weight, the slower the pounds will come off.  If you are obese and go on keto, 10 lbs can be normal in the first week.  If you are only trying to lose 10 or 20 lbs, then expect more moderate, but steady losses.

Finally, I’ll agree with your comments about someone picking on attitude when trying to get feedback on what feels like failure (but isn’t... 3 lbs is 3lbs!).  Preachy is not helpful. 🙂
