Ketones? Help!

I have been on the keto diet for 30 days dropped 15lbs, but the last 2 days my ketones lowered. I haven't cheated and I follow my macros. What am I doing wrong?

Take a look at Intermittent Fasting; YouTube has some good videos on it.  Also take a look at MCT Oil; if used correctly as a supplement it can help you stay in ketosis.  You can learn about it on YouTube as well.

madwolf74986e When you become truely fat adapted the ketones you see expelled whether in blood or urine go down. Your body is now using them. Congrats. Your in true fat burning mode now. The only time I get my ketones way up is if I eat too much unneccessary fats. I don’t need them I just splurge. Trust me. It’s not a bad thing if your following your net carbs and your ketones show less. Mct oil will make you spill more ketones and really only used for higher performance days when you need an extra boost  I don’t use them- a lot of people only use mct oil if they don’t want to burn more body fat and stay in health” mode on ketogenic or with higher performance ie weight lifting, jogging, cardio, etc

  • Dear madwolf74986e,

I use Keto sticks at different times of the day and they go up and down all day.  It depends on if you have just eaten, drank something, etc.  Most say to get the Keto test first thing in the morning, first urine when ketones are supposed to be the greatest.  I find mine can be greater right before I go to bed.  As long as the stick is purple I would not worry about it.  I like my ketone sticks to be 80 mg/dl.  Great job on losing  the weight.

    Sincerely,

    Beverly Avery

Beverly Avery I’ve been keto 9-10 months now and I rarely turn mine purple. It’s typiclly a pink but I know I’m Keto and fat adapted so that’s what counts. When your fat adapted the sticks do not turn that initial dark color. I’m not spilling ketones much. I won’t add mct or extra fats now, it would be counter productive for me to do that when I sit at a desk all day. When wood season comes then I’ll add more fats.

  • Badmojomn I've been ketoing for 6 weeks and have MCT oil in my bpc every morning... Is this preventing me from burning my own body fat and should I cut it out?

thebinadays2734 mct provides direct fueling for your metabolism. It’s not using your body fat or other fat you ingest during the day. Does that make sense? Think of carb diets. Your going to run a marathon and you have been training but before the big run what do you eat? Large complex carb meal.  If your not running marathons or doing heavier workouts the mct can stall you for fat loss   If your doing ketogenic simply for health reasons, it’s truly beneficial then  also .
