Just can't figure this Keto thing out...

Hi Guys! So I am a little more than 3 weeks in and getting increasingly frustrated. I have adjusted my macros, cut out berries and nuts and tracked every single thing I have put into my body. I haven't lost much weight at all, other than the 1-2 pounds I lose and then gain back again.

In total for these 3 weeks I have lost 3-4 pounds. I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong. We walk 3-4 miles, at  least 5-6 days a week. I did take my measurements and I have probably lost a couple inches here and there in total.

I am getting very discouraged. If you guys have any advice or tips, I would love to hear them. It is getting hard to stay motivated when the scale is not moving and I don't see any changes in the mirror. 馃槕

You have lost a pound a week! That鈥檚 good.  Inches matter.  Keto isn鈥檛 a diet. It changes our metabolism.  It goes from using insulin as fuel to using fat.  It is an individual thing.  Cortisol is released when we are stressed and can slow down the process.  Relax.  I was 1-2 lbs a week for 6 weeks.  I鈥檝e lost 13lbs in the last 3.

  • Trish Thank you, Trish. I do stress quite a bit about almost everything so I will remember to relax.

  • It is important to drink lots of water. If the body becomes dehydrated, it will store more water (from the food and water intakes).  When the body burns fat instead of carbs it will produce those ketones, which increases urination. This can lead to dehydration and losses of electrolytes. The dehydration can lead to muscle cramps or headaches. I believe intermittent fasting 16/8 while on keto works best or boost your ketosis.

  • Are you making sure you are not exceeding your carbs, getting all of your fats in?

You are losing a pound or slightly more per week and are seeing changes in your measurements in just three weeks. Sounds like a healthy trend in body composition to me.
