FBS higher than Post Prandial

Hello. I’ve been Keto diet since Jan 24, 2020. Started on my own and lost 15 lbs the 1st week. Lost another 5 lbs on the 2nd week. Tested my glucose level 6 times a day. Generally it was down to around 5.5mmol/L although there are times when it is in the pre-diabetes level. Started Carb Manager around the 12th of Feb. Lost another6 lbs. Glucose level still hovering between normal and pre-diabetic levels.

My 1st question, has anybody experienced the same situation?  If so, have you corrected it and how? Have you maintained it on the normal level now?

Lately I’ve noticed that my FBS is usually higher than my 2-hr post prandial test the night before? It’s supposed to be lower, right? Because I did not eat or drink the whole night.

Need help on this, too.

Thank you.

Natsup, there is a process just before we wake where the body releases certain chemicals, sugars, etc. into the bloodstream that causes us to wake.  It causes what’s called the ‘morning spike’ in blood sugars.   A lot of the medical documents I’ve read suggest to wait an hour after you wake to take your morning readings.

    hope this helps
