Backslidden Ketoer

My name is Melody. I started keto July 1 of last year. Was happily faithful until our December vacation.  We (my husband and I) saw “worlds best Belgian wafffle” in a cinnamon bun flavor and it was all over.  Struggled to get back on track ever since. I’ve gained back all but 4 lbs that I lost (about 18lbs) and my blood glucose is out of control again (type 2 diabetic).  This is the first time I’ve posted here.  Looking for inspiration and encouragement. Any tips for getting back on track?

Also, my husband said when he first started on carb manager, he used some kind of setting that eased him into it by gradually decreasing carbs each day. We can’t find it now and I’m not looking forward to the keto flu again. Any idea how to do this?  Thanks!

I am in the same boat, I was going along really good until I went on a cruise last month.  I'm back and ready to regroup and regain control again.

I am in the same situation. Started August 2019 down 47.5 pounds but went on and off in December -February. Only gained 6lbs back but need to get back in line. Surprisingly my sugars have been lingering between 97-118 consistently.  I find that I am hungry so I am going over my calories a little but staying within my carbs. Not looking forward to keto flu either. Need to get back to the gym too.

It's just the starting that's so hard.   I had a few cheat days and jumped back into the plan, but those cheat days really made me miss the bad me!

I found a quote on a friend's email that I use for inspiration every day:  "You must be single minded - Drive for the one thing on which you have decided."  Gen George Patton.   For 2020 I've decided to care about my health for a change.

As for the Keto Flu, have y'all ever tried making your own bone broth?  I make a batch once a week and drink that almost every day.  It has a lot of health benefits, including replenishing electrolytes which helps with the keto flu symptoms.  I really never felt sick.  It might help.

  • The keto flu might not be as bad since you’ve been in ketosis before. It might not last as long either.
