Cheat days. How to do it "right"?

Hello all,

My wife are just getting into week number 8 on the keto diet. Usually she will joke about eating  "no-no" food but this week has changed. Just this morning she has brought up having a cheat day at least three times. This brings me to my question. How do you do a cheat day right?

I am trying to set the ground rules for what this cheat day would be like. I think it should only be once every two months. Seems like a good amount of time between cheat days. Also I think it should be a cheat meal, not a cheat day. We are currently doing a 16/8 fast. We essentially have two meals a day. Breakfast and dinner. The day of and the day after this cheat meal, I think we should cut out breakfast. Also I think we should do some moderate exercise The day after. Maybe do moderate exercise twice that day.

Sound right? Yes? No? Suggestions? Any help doing this right would be greatly appreciated.

  • I think this sounds like an excellent idea! Keep in mind that once you get into ketosis, a carb overload will make you soooo sick. When I do a cheat meal ( which is every once in a while) I will have what I REALLY want and go light on the other stuff. So if I want a cheese burger with the bun I get that but I get a side salad instead of the fries. So just pick what it is you're craving the most and get that. I hope this is helpful and best of luck to you both!
