Help! I’m getting frustrated!

I’m 2 weeks into my Keto diet for weight loss.  I’m in Ketosis ( I use the strips-I understand that may not be reliable) but not losing weight. I’m really doing well with planning  meals, keeping within my macros, staying under total calories, and drinking water. I don’t exercise. I have a desk job and rarely even get 10,000 steps a day. 😬   I’m not going to give up on keto and want to make one adjustment at a time so that I know what really works.  Should I adjust my calorie intake or  macro percentages (if yes- what adjustment should I make?) Or Should I add exercise?   Thankful for opportunity to ask a personal question on this forum!

Are you using the CM app? If so, what are your macro goals? You should factor in a daily calorie deficit of 20-30%. Exercise certainly won’t hurt and will speed your progress, but weight loss begins in the kitchen. Make sure you aren’t missing any hidden carbs when you log your food. You might also give intermittent fasting a try to jumpstart weight loss. Don’t give up!

I will be curious to see what people suggest. I’m in the same boat as you and not losing. Health wise I feel better.

  • Every body takes to keto differently  you may not get the big weight loss in the beginning like most people. Pay attention to the non scale victories of pants or shirts  fitting better. Just because the scale isn't moving doesn't mean your body isn't changing.  So I would keep at it log everything hidden carbs and be tricky. I'd wait till your a month in before intermittent fasting that being said if your not Hungry don't eat . It will come

  • Jakapalooza  I agree you will eventually see the weight come off. Although you have a desk job tried to get up every hour and walk around take steps if you can instead of an elevator if that's applicable. Park your car further away so that can be your exercise because that is important to if you can. I'm rooting for you you can do it I'm doing it too.

For me the weight keeps steadily coming off if I count TOTAL carbs. I tried NET carbs for a week and gained back a pound. It’s much more restrictive though but it works for people who tend to be ‘carb sensitive’ ie. gain weight due to carbs and not other factors. I lost 7 pounds, tried net carbs (19g) so I could have more KETO ‘treats’ and gained a pound within 3 days even though I never went over so I then went back to counting 19g TOTAL carbs and am down 10 pounds! Granted the first 5 or so are water weight. I started Jan 1st. Although it works, it is HARD to stay within that limit every day when you count total carbs instead.
