New to Keto, have question.

Hello, I’m new to this diet and am excited to lose some weight. My wife and I have been going strong on keto for 9 days now. We’ve seen some loss but I feel like I should be losing faster than I am.   I lost all the water weight and a couple more pounds.  I’m happy with that yes, but I’ve been holding at that spot for several days now. With as much as I’m restricting my diet I feel like I should be losing more. Any ideas???

Hitting plateaus is common, just keep at it. Try changing things up a little, like adding a bit of intermittent fasting/restricted feeding times. Reduce the time window in which you eat, for instance instead of a fairly normal 8:00 AM - 8:00 or 9:00 PM. Try only eating between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM outside of those times nothing but water or clear liquids like tea, black coffee or broths. Then try reducing it even more like 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Most days I don't eat until 11:00 AM but sometimes I go as late as 1:00 PM, then I generally don't eat past about 6:30 PM. Very occasionally I might have a small snack between 6:30 and 8:30, like a slice or two of cheese or a hand full of nuts.

  • If you just started out this is normal your body is getting used to the new way of eating and creating energy.  Make sure you get close to your fat and protein goals so your body doesn't slip into starvation mode.  I wouldn't start IF until your fat adapted a good month or 2 in. The weight loss will come slow and steady. Leek up the good work
