Gutted! 2nd week gone and didn’t loose that week!!

Hi was wondering if anyone can help me!!

first week on keto did really well lost 8 lb, but 2nd week gone yesterday and I’ve not lost, 

ive not cheated as I’m aware of, I fill my daily log, stay within my 15g carbs ( usually less), and also within my fats (94g) and protein (76g),

I wondered if I could be having too much full cream, as last week was having more ( in coffee’s) to get my fat up without using carbs as well,

my breakfast consists of:

raspberries & Greek yogurt & black coffee with cream,

mid morning,

black coffee with cream x 2

lunch,

peanut butter with celery sticks or occasionally few carrot sticks & a baby bell cheese plus sometimes a boiled egg.

dinner, 

spinich or lettuce

cucumber , 2 cherry toms, sometimes small spring onion, then either chicken, beef mince or burger or tuna( in a can)

snack

coffee and cream, can Piet Pepsi, Kiowa orange in water, 2 x strawberries and cream, 

that all on a daily basis 

ive sent for a monitor to check if in ketosis, ( not got it at this point yet)

so I’m lost as to what I’m doing wrong,

    Hang in there!  I've lost 40 over 5 months and that's more than I needed to lose, so I'm happy.  But, I didn't eat any carrots, diet Pepsi is not a good thing on low carb (that I know of),  and I rarely ate salads.  I played it close to the vest and had weeks where either nothing came off or only 1 lb.  It may not be a matter of what you're eating, but your body itself.  I think our metabolism is ever changing, even day to day.  It doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong, just keep going.  I would get so depressed sometimes - felt like I couldn't eat any less, but not even ounces were coming off.  But really, in the end it will work.  Get exercise, if you can.  I worked my butt off walking and biking, and I think that was the kicker.  Now I'm addicted to exercising and the way I eat and couldn't feel better!  (P.S. I used to check everyday whether I was in ketosis - I always was, but wouldn't lose weight and was disappointed.  While it's a good goal to perhaps be in ketosis, don't swear by it. )

    hi can you tell me what you eat instead of salad , I find don’t get much veg as there’s carbs in them, ( I do have tender heart cabbage,( that’s low), I must admit I eat a lot of salad( spinach at the moment as it’s low in carbs) rather than lettuce, And I would like something different, I’m still used to this ,

    First of all--congratulations on losing 8lbs so far! Great start!  Remember this is marathon not a sprint.  I started keto in May and have lost 33lbs so far. How much water/coffee are you drinking?  I drink a minimum of 160 oz every day.  In my morning coffee I usually have 1tbs MCT oil, 1tbs ghee (sometimes heavy cream), 1 scoop collagen.  I avoid most other dairy products. I also avoid sweeteners--since starting keto I have discovered that my heavy cravings for sweets have disappeared.  My go-to veggies include cauliflower, zucchini, spinach, cucumbers.

    Remember--your body is learning to burn fat as a primary source of fuel--when you have days/weeks where the scale is not changing--your body is probably losing inches as it adjusts. For me--this is about changing my lifestyle to feel better --and I do.  I have more energy--I sleep better--and my BP is better.  Keep the faith--you are doing well.

    hi , thanks for getting back to me, and well done you’ve done really well, 

    I have between 2 / 3 litres of water a day , roughly 4 cups of that is coffee, 1st and 4th have 2 teaspoons of double cream, other coffees are black, no sugar or sweetener,

    I also have Greek yogurt and cheese as part of my fat and protein, 

    veg, is spinach, cabbage, broc, sprouts, sometimes cauli, (mainly spinach and cabbage ( tender heart as it’s the only one I can fine with less carbs)

    My only problem is the odd Diet Pepsi or diet lemonade, I thought they would be ok as I don’t have all my macros, 

    alcohol!! I did drink pink gin, but since doing keto I find it’s too sweet done like it no more !! ( and I loved it before) going to try lemon gin, but not that often, 

    ive totally kicked anything sweet food wise, so I’m hoping I’ll do well!!

  • Daisydool Try some of the fat bomb recipes, just google Keto fat bombs. There are a ton of recipes. I have two standby sweets, Keto Raspberry Cheesecake bombs, jello fluff-heavy I use cherry & orange sugar free jello. I make enough for a week. I dissolve jello in 1/4 cup of hot water, let cool and room temp heavy cream, I use a hand mixer. It takes awhile to thoroughly mix & whip. I use small plastic bowls with lids and portion 1/2 cup servings. No carbs. 
     

    they also have awesome Keto butter burgers and meatballs.

    hi thanks for getting back to me , I’ll try them fat bombs, I like the sound of the jelly ones!!

    since I last wrote question in the forum I’ve lost a total  of 21 lbs and that’s taken 8 half weeks, I’ve not weighed in for about wk and half as I don’t feel like I’ve lost, I feel like I’m Loosing it a bit, I’ve not cheated at all, but some days I find I’m not eating enough, my macros say I should have 1079 cals a day, today I’ve had around 800, and I’m most times under carbs , protein and fats, I always try to have more fats than protein, 

    I just don’t know what to do, Should I slowly up my calories too what it should be, I don’t want to gain weight back, I used to feel full all the time, but recently I’m finding my sweet cravings are coming back, I just haven’t giving in to them!! 
    I wondered if  this is a common thing,

  • Daisydool  You are very welcome. I just did a google search for Keto Fat Bombs and got both sweet & savory recipes. These have save me.

  • Daisydool I’ve been experiencing the same thing for the third week. Make sure you do your measurements. You may not see loss on the scales but you will in measurements. I went back to the Atkins book and it said when this happens, stay on the diet but eat More calories. Keep your fat intake at 75%.  and carbs at 20g or less.  These recipes help a lot because for the sweets you’re eating lots of heavy cream & cream cheese, etc. With Atkins/Keto you’re not really supposed to count calories unless your eating over 2000 per day. They wrote the original Keto diet and I’ve seen it work so I’m sticking with it.
