Something to add to cauliflower rice with frozen vegies

Hello there, new to the Low carb regime. I am on day 4, and am planning to stay on it for at least 10 weeks.

As all rice, pasta, bread and potatoes are to be discouraged, I find myself eating a lot of cauliflower "rice" and frozen vegies (The ones without potatoes in) , and although I eat it, I am not overly keen on the taste of it, quite bland, in fact

So to my question. What no carb/lo carb sauces/condiments can be added to this mix  to make it taste a bit more exciting. I have tried soaking the mix chicken stock overnight, which kind of works better, but searching for any good ideas to mix it with, without hours of prep, as I'm not an expert cook, lol

I thought of soy sauce, but not keen on that either, but dont mind Asian flavors generally

Many thanks,  Chris

I like adding butter, any carb free herbs or spices, sesame oil, my favorite is a mix of coconut cream, heavy whipping cream, peanut butter, ginger, and swerve for a Thai peanut kind of sauce 👍

  • Shawn G Thanks for that, I think i need to broaden my horizons in culinary skills. That coconut cream sounds nice, plus I thought of minced garlic as well (Not with the coco cream tho, LoL)

I can't eat cauliflower rice unless it's smothered in cheese.

  • Kat H Yes it is pretty bland, I must say. I have been experimenting with the soups from the more exotic "2 minute noodles" (IBU mi, Ah Lai) which are quite creamy. Discarded the noodles. I am going to do a post on this very experiment to see if anyone knows how many carbs are in the soup only

  • Try garlic and ginger. Also if you do an egg or two in there and add feta cheese. So good!

  • DickieGirl Nice suggestion, I like all 3 of those. I only have minced garlic in the jar though

  • That’s what I use. I’ll even use garlic powder in a pinch. It’s better fresh but you use what you have. :)

  • Perhaps find recipes for Chinese style fried rice and (a) substitute the riced cauliflour and (b) modify otherwise to taste.   Stay healthy and stay safe. Ed

  • I just made this recipe this weekend and it was DELICIOUS. Even my no-low-carb husband loved it and ate the leftovers!  Very filling, and I imagine different cheeses will change the flavor in fun ways, too. I used a merlot cheddar and mozzarella combo.
