Hawaiian Vacation

Hey there all,

Heading to Hawaii in a couple of weeks. I want to enjoy my vacation but don’t want to wreck my progress from the last month. Any suggestions for drinks and treats there that will be more Keto friendly?

It’s a VACATION. You should enjoy it. That’s part of having a good and happy life! You can be mindful of what you eat without freaking out about it. Avoid the umbrella drinks and just have liquor with water or diet soda. Focus on proteins and leafy veggies rather than sugar laden fruits and carb heavy foods. Pass on daily breakfasts. Even so you may likely go out of Ketosis and put on a few pounds. So what? You can get back on the Keto wagon in short order when you get home... with great memories of your wonderful vacation! Aloha!

I  completely agree with @hutch.1, a couple of years ago I went on a cruise vacation with the family after having recently started into the keto diet. I did try to limit my carbs to some degree but I didn't worry about it too much.

By the end I knew I wasn't in ketosis but I hadn't gorged on carbs either so a few good workouts, some moderate fasting and a strict adherence to my preferred limit of under 30 g of total carbs and I was back in business within a week.

So go, enjoy, and don't deny yourself a few pleasures along the way. Just try not to over indulge. Everything in moderation.

I went to Hawaii about a month after I started keto (my first round with keto) also. I don't drink, so I can't really help you there ... I stuck with coffee, water, and sparkling water.

I held pretty close to eating keto with a few meals that weren't, and I didn't fret too much about it either. I say, just enjoy your time there, don't overindulge yourself, and enjoy the beauty that is Hawaii.
