Day 13 and plateaud????

Hi everyone. I’m on day 13 of a Keto diet achieving less than 20 net grams per day and I’ve stopped alcohol altogether as I need to. I’ve lost 3 kg or 7 pounds in the first week but nothing since. I’ve done both before with fantastic results and my urine strips showed I was definitely in Ketosis by day 6 and still am today. This loss is water loss expected in the first week especially from an 8 pint of beer a day guy. I’d expect this loss just from stopping the booze alone but I’m stuck on a plateau. My macros are fine. I’m 140kg and do not over eat protein and my average net carbs is 10-15 per day. Help. I’m exercising and not eating ‘diet or fat free foods’ so no secret sugars. Any suggestions please.

  • Protein is your goal and fats are the lever. Continue with eating those to completion it takes a few weeks to fat adapt your body. When you are fat adapted you should have a fat whoosh. Plateaus are not plateau s until they last over a month.

gretchenhulett thanks so whilst my goal is to keep below 20g Carbs which I find easy what should my protein and fat goals be or their ratios?

  • first you need to know your caloric intake.  then its typically 5% carbs, 75% fats, 20% proteins.  I am 6'1" and my SW was 220. I work out 3 times a week so my intake is higher. I eat 21g carbs, 128g fats, 103g protein.  Once you figure out your caloric intake you can change your Carb Manager settings if you want.

  • I’m in the same spot. I lost 10 lbs the first week and haven’t lost anything more in a week!!  I’m using the app and logging everything, percentages are in line. What gives?

You need to give it more time.  Be Patient - you did not gain all the weight over night, you will not lose it all in 2 weeks.  Plateaus happen.
