End of week 6 not sure if I am eating too much protein

Hi everyone I struggling with the scales just goes up and down. Have lost about 7.5 pounds but then its still goes up and down same pound for a about two weeks.

I am trying to have 20-30 carb even sometimes I was aiming for 20 but sometimes it goes more

I have eggs and spinach for breakfast

Protein and salad like spinach , tomato mayonesie for lunch

dinner is a piece of protein , chicken fish and veg mainly green

I was snacking on macadamia nuts and pecans alot I think and on carb bread but I found my weight went up same with baking anything do to with almond meal.   I was doing that in the first few weeks now stopped that.

I was feeling very sick for five weeks then started to drink poweraidezero now feeling better.

I have vitamins ect

my macros is

20 carb is the goal

120 protein

140 fat???

My fat is always more than protein but I wondered why i can;t get these scales to move.

I also made fat bombs a week ago . TIny ones about 1cm width of the coconut oil, cocoa to make sure I am getting the fat.

I am getting very frustrated however I did try on a pair of pants and can nearly do them up so its weird why scales dont move.

thanks for any help or ideas in how to get the scales to move again.

I also exercise 30 minutes bike riding everyday and incidental maybe 5000 steps .

hope your keto woe is going great for you !!!

I also wondered who is on the premium on here thinking of signing up for it for sure.

have a great day !! bye sonia

I am not an expert but are you counting calories and weighing and measuring everything still? Also, your protein may be too high and your body will use that for fuel instead of the fat until you lower it to 20/25% of your total calories. I'm eating 1200 calories a day and I eat no more than 60 grams of protein. I'm on the keto diet so my macro percentages are 5% carbs, 20% protein, 70% fat. But that's personal preference not what was chosen by the system. I did a lot of reading and research to find the macros that work for me and you will have to do some adjustments on your own maybe to get the scale moving again.

IsabeausRose are you losing every week with your macros? In new only 2 weeks in and am having a hard time with what to eat for B L D and snacks because I find I go over my calories - I’m trying to stay with in 1200-1400 but it’s hard - can you give me a sample menu that you eat?

klcicero I eat 1200 calories. Breakfast and lunch are always the same. Bfast: 2 eggs, 1 tbsp butter, 1 oz shredded cheese. Lunch: 4 oz chicken breast, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 oz shredded cheese. Dinner is either 1 of those frozen broccoli steamers by Birdseye or green giant it's about 120 calories for the whole bag, 1 tablespoon butter, and 1 oz of cheese. Or if I don't feel like anything at all I'll have about 3 tablespoons of peanut butter and call it good. I keep it really simple because I don't like to cook and I live alone.

I also only eat 3 meals a day no snacks and this is only my second week into low carb. The first week wasn't really keto I just lowered my carbs down to 40 grams and lost 5 pounds that week (total grams) and now I'm 5 days into my second week, I've lost 1 pound and I'm keeping my carbs at about 15 total, not net.

Is your calories appropriate for your cardio ? You have to work those numbers in for cardio even bike riding. I would ditch any mct or powders. Stick to Whole Foods, natural. If you do mod to heavy cardio - coconut oil 2 hrs prior or heavy cream but those macros should be just enough for your cardio. Research is needed for the overlight exerciser.

Scales won't move much. Your will see the inches melt off. Takes awhile. Hang in there. Hopefully your not feeling dumpy. That's the main issue for most.

IsabeausRose I am finding no snacking is almost key- along with just fasting if you can. Eat when only hungry.

badmojomn I do happen to do the 16:8 method naturally just because I'm not a breakfast person and don't eat it til later and then have an early dinner. So I think you are right in that it's helpful.

lorena Even I have been on a 1200 calorie diet since last January and have lost 57 pounds. I lowered my carbs down to 40 grams for a week before going keto and lost 5 pounds that week and just finished my first week of true keto and have lost 2.6 pounds. So yes, I am losing weight. The main difference I have noticed is that I am not as hungry any more which is great! I have been so hungry all year. And to have that gone is wonderful. I wish I had found keto sooner. I only have 14 pounds left to lose but I am staying on it when I reach my goal weight.

IsabeausRose I think the calorie restriction might be key for some people. Honestly I don't even track much anymore Because I felt it was a trigger to eat more. I'm only eating until satisfied, small portione- keeping carbs mentally. Fat is melting melting. That's all that counts to me. 😊

  • I've lost 10 pounds in three weeks. I'm not counting calories. I have 2 cups of bulletproof coffee with 1 T coconut oil, a tablespoon of grass fed unsalted butter, and 2 tablespoons of bulletproof collagen protein.  I eat protein and greens for lunch and dinner, and then fast until the next morning when I start again with bulletproof coffee. This seems to be working for me. No snacking, no dairy except for the butter, and I eat as much protein and fat as I want to keep from feeling hungry. I have cheated a couple times but on the whole this seems to work for me.

Depending on your age we can calculate protein, and carbs, always under 20 and fat is way to high. You can burn your fat or the fat you consume, but I would begin with your age... if your under 50  120 protein, 80 grams fat. 15 carbs. Use only keto foods, not regular mayo . Weigh and check everything ! It becomes very easy soon. You can do this. I went from 355 to 110 in less then a year.

  • I don't know what your weight or calorie goal is but that fat and protein amounts sound really high.   I would try to go more natural and stay away from things like the power aid and low carb bread.   Depending on how much weight you want to loose I have decided to give myself a loss goal before adding in things like low carb breads and sweets.

I used the macro calculator from ketogains.com . It really lets you customize your macros and you can go back and calculate for exercise. Also, maybe since you've already lost 7.5lbs you need to recalculate your macros (I've been trying to find a suggested number of lbs lost to recalculate macros but haven't came across it, does anyone know?)

Also, I came across a blog ketogasm.com which is good. Sign up for her free "Hello Keto" course. It's very thorough and gives lots of good information.

  • You might be maintaining muscle not fat. Muscle weight is heavier than fat. You could be loosing body fat but gaining more muscle. Cutting to a lower intake in sodium might help in loosing weight and drinking at least 8 cups of water.
