CarbQuik: To Use or Not to Use

Hello. I’ve just discovered carbquik which while it says has 16g of carbs, is 14g in fibre making net cards 2g. Who else uses this product and are you finding success or did it kick you out of Ketosis?
really interested in making a biscuit. Haha

  • Personally I'd stay away from it. It's processed wheat-based flour with gluten. One big thing about keto is cutting out grains due to their inflammatory qualities. If you have arthritis, you'll know the difference after a few weeks of avoiding wheat and corn. I went from limping all the time to walking like I had new knees. I fell off the keto wagon after making a mistake and thinking I needed to eat carbs to solve insomnia caused by low magnesium from diarrhea caused by eating too much saturated fats, and due to this, my knees have been acting up lately and one of them has been rather evil this past week. Before I got off the keto wagon and began eating wheat items, my knees were feeling darned good. Now, not so much. I'm getting myself back on track.

There are other baking mixes that are almond- and coconut-flour based.

I would stay away from it or make your own pancakes/biscuits. There are plenty of recipes online. I make my own pancakes (and will soon try making biscuits) from ingredients like almond flour, coconut flour, eggs, butter, xanthan gum, vanilla extract etc.

  • Some people seem to do OK with it, but since it has wheat and the total carbs are very high, I personally cannot use it without getting inflammatory issues and stopping any weight loss.  I won't eat anything with wheat in it anymore.  :-(

Biff Tannen This! I always ate very small amounts of complex carbs, my fav being sweet potatoes and oatmeal (2 oz. was my serving size)...I busted my knee a while back and it had been bothering me on and off when lifting. First week after Keto, the first thing I noticed was my knee not acting up anymore! I think this had been an ongoing inflammation that has never come back, a year later!
