Stressed!

I’m truly trying so hard to do this. It’s hard for me with my kids 12 & 14 year old boys. They are both overweight as well as myself. I feel like I have failed them and myself. It’s hard to do this for myself as well as slowly changing their diets. I’m so stressed about carbs that sometimes I feel like I under feed myself. It’s week 1 on keto. Tomorrow starts week 2. I have lost weight however I’m stressing about carbs. How do I beat this. In the evening I seem to have the most trouble with this as that is when I crave. I try to save my carbs for then. Any advice would help!

*my net carbs are 17-20 daily

*my carbs are 65-80 daily

  • Jello light has zero carbs if your looking for a late snack. And it’s so handy cause it’s waiting for you in the fridge.

  • Question: When you say you are stressing about carbs do you mean your are worried about the amount you eat or do you mean you find it stressful because you feel like you are depriving yourself.

I stress about over eating carbs and not getting enough nutrients or eating enough. Sometimes I force myself to eat cause I only ate something that morning an at 5pm I’m still not hungry. Is that normal?

  • It is normal to eat less on keto and it's good you are not always hungry.   I sometimes only eat breakfast (or dinner).  You just need to make sure that when you do eat that you try to get in as many nutrients as possible.  A typical breakfast for me is eggs with red and green peppers, cheese, bacon or sausage and an avocado.  Dinner is usually some sort of meat, one or two vegetables with butter or sauce and some sort of salad with dressing (if I make a salad then I only have one vege with dinner).  If you are worried about nutrients take a supplement, that's not a problem.  You are doing a good thing for your kids! Do not doubt that!  It's okay to eat your carbs in the evening, sometimes that helps people sleep better. Remember it's about progress, not perfection (not my quote I stole that from Megan Ramos who is part Dr. Jason Fung's team).
