Atkins- you can find this online. In a nutshell your induction is 20 or less carbs and slowly introducing back some complex carbs over time. Ketogenic is a nutrional ketosis state where you essentially stay in the 20 or less net carbs forever, to stay in " the zone". You won't be introducing back in carbs much as it may take you out of ketogenic state.  Lots of info on ketogenic and Atkins online however that can go into detail. Most people who follow ketogenic for a lifetime won't gain back fat, where as Atkins to me, is a roller coaster when I could start introducing back some carbs and never truly worked long time for me.

Hi  it’s a lot of years since I did Atkins... as far as I know, the difference is on that on Keto we stay 20 carbs a day or under permanently. Increasing slightly for people who need more for various reasons. Protein is moderate  percentage, fats are high. Most people doing KETO  wouldn’t use artificial sugar. We use real foods best quality and hopefully organic whenever possible. I’m not trying to run Atkins down but it really didn’t suit me When I did it years ago.

  • Thanks I was trying to understand the difference But Atkins we just watch carb intake while Keto you watch macros? I have watched on YouTube and there was so much info I got overwhelmed. I thought I’d ask and get straight answers. I’ve started Atkins and when I searched Atkins Keto popped up so I got a little confused. If there a certain time  that we should stop eating in the day with the diets? And is there certain vegetables that are not overloaded with Carbs. Would appreciate the help. I want to do what is right for me and I’ve done Atkins before lost the weight and kept it off until I had 3babies one after the other and I’m having a hard time losing the weight. I know a low carb diet works best for me just would like to add more veggies. So kinda not sure how to start. Thank you for all your help.

Root vegetables like carrots, turnips, etc have more carbs than vegetables that grow above ground, so that’s a good place to start when deciding what veggies to eat.

smiranda790d0 In my opinion I would drop the anything Atkins products. They are in a class action suite right now. Do Whole Foods. Count your carbs net. If you can, google what to eat on keto and what not to eat. That’s the easiest. And no. We don’t have to go by the time of day when we eat something. I eat when I am hungry which now being  on keto is diminishing.

Atkins induction would technically be ketogenic as it's 20 grams of carbs a day or less and should put you in ketosis. And I agree with badmojomn . I don't know that I'd inherently say there's anything wrong with Atkins bars and shakes and whatnot if you can tolerate them, but personally I can't tolerate sugar alcohols well--my body pretty much treats them the same as it would any other carb and they will knock me out of ketosis / cause a stall.  I'd personally recommend staying away from them.

  • smiranda790d0  you might want to explore a site called diet doctor. They do a good job of explaining (with good visuals) the carb count in a lot of foods, including veggies. This site (carbmanager) will help in counting carbs/net carbs and all macros. That's where I was struggling for a while - getting the macros figured out.
