No gallbladder

Any tips for me? I tried Keto a few weeks ago but it made me sick. After some studying, I believe my liver wasn't coping well with the high fat diet. I've started keto again  and have reduced my long chain triglycerides and eliminated most of my medications (naughty me!), started taking ACV and lipase 2-3 times a day, and try to incorporate fermented foods/drinks. I feel better this time, so far. I'm also looking into ox bile, but I don't know how many mg/capsule to get.

Any advice for me?

I also don't have a gall bladder and take 500 mg of ox bile ( 1 capsule at my fattest meal of the day). Dr. Berg recommends taking it during your meal...not before or after to get full benefit. Also without a gall bladder you need to ease into higher fats slowly, let your body and liver adjust to the changes. It can be done. I've been on it almost 9 months with no liver issues. I can't take ACV so I don't know how that would effect things.

I have been on Keto for 102 days. I had my gallbladder removed 5 years ago. Prior to going on Keto, a seldom had problems. Since starting Keto I have had a number of times of extreme pain from too much fat consumed.  Usually from my bulletproof coffee in the morning, but it doesn’t happen daily so I have just learned to go with the flow.

I don't have any specific insight per se except that I have noticed that gluten affects my stools more than fat, or so it would seem.  Since Keto is naturally gluten low or really  gluten free you may work your symptoms out.,   Since going on keto my stool consistency improved maybe 30-50%.  I guess the low carb veggies help???  I try to make and eat a lot of kimchi too.

And that's the poop on that lovely dinner conversation.  :-)

  • That's a difficult situation but nothing is hard for those who persevere. I think you have to consult a specialist to help you out with such issue before you continue with your diet. Good luck.

I had my gallbladder removed 14 years ago.  My stomach would get fairly upset with most meals I ate.   I have been on a 70/25/5 Keto Diet for a month now and for the most part the  diarrhea, heartburn, and stomachaches are gone..... so I don’t know what to tell you.  How recently did you have yours removed?

I also have had my gallbladder removed.  I watched Dr. Berg's video and also read up on it before starting.  The first week I ate an apple a day, yes I know not Keto, but it helps your body produce more bile.   I had keto flu the first couple of weeks but that went away as I pushed onward.   Each week I added more fat and stopped eating apples.  I have been doing it for 2 months now and don't seem to be having any problems with my liver.
