Fat goals...protein to fat ratio

*posted this in the groups tab too*

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had info on not meeting fat goals. Im on day 6 of keto and trying to find/absorb any and all info I can on the right way to do it. Tonight (after logging all my mealI was at 90ish grams of fat and my macros say 123 on this app. I was full but nervous that my protein was too high(gluconeogenesis) so I made a little fat bomb but felt terrible after. Do you HAVE to eat all fat grams and how do you know the right amount of fat/protein ratio if you dont eat all the fat? Ahhh help.

  • Hello. From everything I’ve read you do not have to eat all of your fat. The fat is to keep you satiated. The main goal is to keep under or equal to your carb allotment. I also tend to go over on my protein but I’m not worrying about that at the moment. Besides the amount of protein you should have depends on your age, whether or not you’re a male or female, what type of exercise you do,  etc. My main goal right now is to keep under my carbs and under or equal to my calories. I’m not sure if you watch any YouTube videos but Thomas DeLauer is a good source of information. I hope that helps a bit and good luck on your journey.

  • Gluconeogenesis is an on demand process and will not happen just because you ate more protein.  Protein is essential and should be a goal to meet or even exceeding is fine.  Carbs and calories are limits. Protein is a goal. Fat is energy and for satiety to fill out calories. If you feel good and satisfied do not eat more fat just to meet a percentage.
