How about Intermittent Fasting ? Anybody doing this ?

I’m doing 16:8 IF ( internment  fasting) whenever I’m not screaming hungry in the am - right now abt 3-4x a week. Also said to be ketogenic. Anybody ?

its a real trendy thing these days with lots of info on google - several different methods. 16:8 is 16 hrs/day no food and 8 just eating healthfully - whatever that means to a person. No cal counts or special diets otherwise. Some folks lose a lot of weight on this and they’re real happy. Another way is 2 separate full fast days out of 7. Haven’t tried that yet myself. During fast days you keep yourself to 500 cal per day and drink water all day long as I think we like to do anyway. It’s said to be ketogenic. I’m doing the 16:8 with a cup of coffee in the morning and often not hungry till 1 PM. If I’m hungry I’m just staying with a ketogenic or low-carb diet like on this app. Seems to make sense . Let’s talk more if you are interested!

yatesa12 sorry about the blank reply.

So why are you starving yourself? If you do the low carb / Keto diet of 20 grams of carbohydrates or less, you can eat 1500 calories or more a day every day. Not skipping meals and still loose. You couldn't get me to do this diet, I did look it up and I felt sorry for these people.

I have done this diet and it does work however it's super difficult. Eating such few calories and  no energy to exercise

wow that’s wonderful - looks like you found something that fits you fine ! So interesting how different people are from each other - metabolically and otherwise. For me, I’m real happy doing the 16:8 but only when I feel like it. I’d never starve on purpose ! Thanks for your reply : )

I’m exercising with it and I feel I’m getting enough food. Just keeping carbs down for now anyway. I think I’ll aim to lose 1-2lbs a week x about 7-8 weeks while doing low carb keto and then experiment once at goal weight. See what keeps it stable down. If this works, I’ll have something to do for quick loss when I want it. Thanks for your reply !

yatesa12 I have done this diet before and lost 50 lbs in 8 months. It works, never hungry. I just wished I never gone back to those nasty Doughnuts 🍩 and other processed foods. Because I wouldn't have to do it so strictly again.  I did to keep weight and height, while I served in the Army. It was a sure thing to loose 10 to 15 lbs a month.

I wish you good luck and a healthy you!

I started out Keto on 3 plates of food a day, as I got into ketosis then fat adapted, I have not been hungry until 1-2pm so having 3 black coffees (1 has Bimuno powders, 1 has Pure C8 MCT Oil in it) & water only, I call that 18:6 fasting I suppose as I have no desire to snack 🙌 4 weeks now lost 13.4lbs so delighted but better still I feel, look and sleep better that for me is the true proofthis is for me. Listen to your body. Best wishes.

how wonderful ! All this stuff seems so organic in its own way, doesn’t it ? I like the experimenting - with both weight trajectory and keto measures guiding us. I’m also eating keto when I’m eating - at 20 now we’ll see how this goes ( ha just dropped another # at 12-20 since 1/2 way thru first day at 20. Let’s see if this dropping continues at 20 😇

soniakircher00 it's taken me to week 5, you're saying just what I did last week,  think I will see my GP if I feel this terrible next week..... too weak to do much & no stairs/hills please! ~ this week, suddenly zipping but not started any formal exercise my body & mind are too busy adjusting, one step at a time for me. (We're all different so of course get your bloods done, I just wanted to let you know how weak I felt for 4 weeks in case it helps).

egg fasting ? Eat only eggs ? No cheese or other added? I can see that but maybe “mono-food” fasting using any food moderately satisfying wd do as well.

I’m thinking if/when I hit a plateau, I’ll start the day w coffee +/- 1/2 1/2, aim at 16:8 if not hungry in spite of plenty water, and stick to 5-12 net carbs /day for a couple days. Use keto sticks to confirm ketosis and see what happens.   Treat that plateau (!!!)

    Thanks !

So, Joanna are you feeling OK now ?

I’ve been lucky myself but have seen several people talk about extreme weakness, not feeling good with this keto process. Wonder what that’s about.

Might be if a person had a true vitamin deficiency to start out with. Might be smart to take a good multiple vitamin.

Drinking water often seems to help all kinds of things. Might be dehydration also if that’s not a strong part of initial program.

Might also be “shock and awe“ 😑😲😱so maybe better for some folks to ease into this. Go for 50 nets, then 40, 30 , 25, 20 etc.

Would love to hear abt people’s experiences feeling “ weak n dizzy”, what they were doing on this program, how long it lasted, what made it better

I’m a doc myself and main thing I wd do if someone previously healthy came in w this picture - check vitals and exam for something new, do labs - CBC, electrolytes + magnesium phosphorus levels. Maybe a TSH. Review any chronic conditions and meds. If on any meds, wd be good to check if any drug interactions with ketosis - I don’t know if any obvious ones.

Hyponatremia ( low sodium) can make you feel real bad and do other things - occurs when water overloaded compared to salt intake and can come from many meds. Maybe changing internal environment while on a diuretic or another one that can cause that ...

Hypokalemia ( low potassium) can also feel bad and happen when a person doesn’t eat enough. ( typical in anorexia )
