Intestinal backup anyone?
Just wanted to share and get advice on this topic of our intestines not enjoying this lifestyle. I have a backup issue due to not enough exercise and prob lack of veggies. I will not give up my ketogenic journey, and my doctor doesn't understand why I'm following this. I just wanted to share, after taking laxatives and such, tiring of these, I found psyllium husk caplets. Wow! What and difference! Somewhat natural? And works better than any fiber supplements for me. If anyone else has any other natural remedies- non habit forming, please share.

Water! I think constipation is a indicator of not drinking enough water on Keto. Especially if you are taking psyllium. Because if you have ever mixed psyllium into water you will see it congeals naturally. And for it to do that in your digestive tract, it will actually draw water out. So you have to drink even MORE water to compensate. This sounds bad, but McDonald's has always caused my digestive issues when I ate carbs. Now, I will go to McDonald's almost every day for lunch. I just get a double hamburger (or cheeseburger no cheese if they don't have it on the menu), no ketchup, no onion, add shredded lettuce and now guac because they have it on the menu. It's literally like $2.20 or something and actually tastes good. I eat it like a salad. And I usually have to go within 30 mins. IDK what they are doing to that meat, but it always causes movement for me. Same with my mom. If we don't go to McDonald's for a day, then we won't go #2 that day sometimes. I am better than her because I drink a gallon of water a day. (Which is normal for my weight. 238lbs)

I'll echo KBG - more water, salt and I'll add lettuce and ground flax to the list. I was having issues for a few weeks until I really concentrated on water and eating lettuce at every meal. It's working well for me. If I skip salad at dinner, I definitely pay for it in the morning- either not going or feeling like I didn't empty all the way.
