Hey y'all

Hello everyone! I'm new to the keto community - I've started 2 weeks ago and I'm feeling great so far. I was looking for a community to exchange my experience and maybe get some support (or offer some, ha!). So here I am :)

  • Aww, I’m new also. Today is only my fourth day. It’s been tough. Surprisingly not as tough as I thought it would be giving up sugar, but tough trying to learn this diet.  Yesterday was a rough day because I was feeling effects of Keto Flu—tired, aches and a massive headache.  I’m hopeful that I can conquer this and lose 10 lbs and some bad habits:). Keep up the good work—2 weeks!!!

    welcome to you both! enjoy the ride... I used carb manager religiously for about a month, then it becomes a lifestyle and you're no longer counting. I only had 12 lbs to lose to get to me high school weight and I did it in 10 weeks! happy to answer any questions and beware the "plateaus" in weight loss... its normal esp until you're a fat burning machine..

  • I am brand new, and really need some help!  I have just been diagnosed with diabetes, but it very mild, the numbers are very close to the norm.  My goal is to lose weight and to reverse the diabetes so that I won't have to take medication.  My doctor has agreed to give me until June before she will put me on meds if the glucose isn't "normal".  I really don't know where to begin....how many carbs to consume in order to lose weight.  I am hoping that I can follow this.

  • Robin Garst I think keto will really help you!  Look on YouTube for Jason Wittrock's channel and his weight loss video... Explains the basics.  Other videos explain food to buy, good meals, how to make keto coffee, etc.  Got me started really fast.  This app really helps with tracking food and macros.  Best wishes!

  • barrydavidpetersb338 thanks :) I actually do not weigh myself - I have a very complicated relationship with the scale because I had an ED when I was a teen. I try on a certain piece of clothing once a week when I'm on a diet. I'm not even trying to lose huge amounts of weight but wanted to cut back on sugar and overall keto seems to fit very well with my preferences and lifestyle.

  • I find I'm having the most difficulties not to eat too much protein. That's really a tough one.

  • bohemiangold if you like lamb, substitute for beef when possible... Has better macros.  I minimize poutry too... Protein is too high relative to fat.  This helped me understand the relative goodness of meat types, etc.: https://www.ruled.me/ketogenic-diet-food-list/
