Help... all of a sudden weight gain.

I have been on Keto for almost a year now. It was great in the beginning. I am petite, and don't actually need to lose a ton of weight, maybe 5 lbs. For 9 months I lost an maintained the weight lose without any real trouble. Then all of a sudden I gained it back and cannot drop it, despite strict adherence to the diet. I am a 45 year old woman. Nothing changed and I cannot drop those 5 lbs.  Also, even though my ketones are staying high, 1.5-2.0, my glucose is also high, 100 or more. I check with a blood meter. I cut back severely on dairy. No change. I have cut back on any "keto" sweets, increased exercise and HIIT,  Increased health fat consumption, watched my protein intake.

I am at a loss as to why this suddenly changed. I have been trying to get the weight back off for a month now.

It sounds like you gained muscle.  You really do not want to get rid of muscle.  Eat more protein if you are exercising a lot.  You could cut out some fat, but it sounds like you do not need to lose.

Just eat meat and fat.  Cut out carbs.  Do not eat keto sweets.  Sometimes people react to sweeteners and nuts and seeds and fiber. Do not eat fruit.  Do this for a few days and see if your blood sugar goes down.

Here's my 2 cents on the possibilities:

    Pre-menopause (possible hormone craziness)?

On the glucose...For me, too much caffeine would jump my glucose. I switched to half caffeine coffee.

Working out, creates soreness of muscles, which rushes water to your muscles for repair (swollen), which increases the scale - temporarily.

If you are using sugar-alcohols for sweeteners, you may have a glucose response if you are sensitive to that particular sugar alcohol.

It might be muscle, but I am willing to bet it is hormonal.  Imbalances in hormones can add water weight or increase cortisol levels. Are you anxious, stressed or depressed over anything?
