Highlight/Copy your reply before hitting “post”

Before you type out a carefully worded and eloquent reply, be sure to highlight and copy it.  More times than not, it will not post because the page gets sidetracked by the “are you a human” protections for the site.  So, when your elegantly loquacious repartee’ vanishes, you will be prepared to paste it in and try again.

  • That happened to me yesterday on my last forum post (and just now). It wanted me to enter the simple Captcha, I did, submitted that, it then proceed to page not found. I just simply hit browser back (in my case, I just use on the keyboard ALT+Left) and my post was and is present (but now edited to reflect this fact).

I normally write long posts however in an actual editor for a lot of different reasons. When I'm happy with it I just copy it and paste it into where ever that post / reply belongs. Less headaches this way.

  • Exactly.  You are reminding me of how much I had to do writing offline then copy/paste in online because we couldn’t just be online all the time because we had to connect the phone line to the computer just to be online.  Ah… the good old days.  😉  hmmm, I’ll have to try ALT+ Left and see where it gets me.

  • It took 2 tries and a refresh and putting the captcha in then getting the “page not found” and refreshing to post that reply.
