Net carb levels

I’m  nearing the end of my second week. My net carb goal is 20g. Most days I’ve finished up around 17 or 18g (hoping it allows for missteps in measuring on my part).

i've seen a few people talk about very low net carb goals (I.e. 10 or 12g)

I was wondering what the research says about going to very very low carbs compared to  staying closer to 20. Is the net carb goal just an individual goal- what works best for me? Or should I consider lowering carbs at some point, like a plateau?

any info would be helpful

The basic carb limit (between 20 and 50 grams per day) is the notional one-size-fits-all basis for reaching ketosis.  Certainly some people can reach ketosis at higher than 50, while some need to keep them lower.

Also, some folks use the keto diet to control and cure their diabetes; I’m one of those.  I have to keep my net carbs down around 12 (or my total carbs below 17) in order to keep my blood sugar levels under control.

So the answer is, ‘It depends’.   But it certainly doesn’t hurt to keep them lower if your ketosis is slipping in and out.

    Hope this helps,

As I near the end I entered my latest weight into the Carb Manager settings and it recalculated me down to 13g net carbs daily, but when I was up over 200 lbs, I was having 20g=25g and lost weight easily on that.  so the thinner you get the lower everything goes in order to stay in weight loss mode. Hope that helps.  Keto on!
