Hi All

I've been trying the ketogenic lifestyle for about a month now and am suffering! Low energy, really can't work out which I hate, and insomnia. Is this normal? Thanks

I had fatigue in the first week as I was detoxing off the carbs but then my energy increased.  Are you meeting your fat goals? Your body needs the healthy fats for burning and energy.  how do your macros look?

  • Good question, I haven't been calculating macros. I'll start that today and let you know what I come up with

rlark55555 I wonder what we are lacking that is causing it to be so significant this time around. 😅

  • Kelsey, are you keeping up with your electrolytes?

I have heard that insomnia normal, but not something I’ve experienced. I have, however, introduced sleep meditation as my night time ritual. Not sure if that’s something that interests you are not...

  • Hi Kristie,

Thank you so much for your reply. I did start taking an electrolyte supplement and it seems to be helping a bit, it's  called Dr Bergs. I like your idea of meditation at night. Do you do a guided meditation? How long do you do it for?

    Thanks again!

  • Kelsey L Koppenhaver  I use the Insight Timer App. Lots of free meditations; everything from sleep, to anxiety, to relationships, etc. You can select guided, guided with music, guided without music, just music, male voice, female voice, length of time you want, etc. I have done anywhere from 20 minutes to 60 minutes although I rarely hear the end of them....lol....I’m sound asleep.

One of the biggest things that helped me with energy drain and fatigue was to make sure that I was getting an appropriate amount of magnesium, potassium, and calcium in my diet. I had actually bought a Mag/Pot/Cal supplement on Amazon to help with this.
