Help with macros
Hi, I'm Carol. I am 7 weeks into the keto lifestyle and use the Carb Manager app daily. I am making good progress, halfway to my goal weight. Today for some reason I'm having trouble with my meal planning...I can't seem to get enough grams of protein without going over on the grams of fat for the day. It's my understanding you shouldn't go over on the protein but is it okay to go over on the fat?
It’s okay to go over fat by a few grams now and then, but just try not to make it a habit, or to go over by too much.
What I do when face with something like this is to cut back my proteins a bit until they’re just under my allowance (typically cut off some of the chicken breast, beef, fish, etc) until it’s under and then check out how my fats are doing. I use butter (0 carbs, 0 proteins, 12 fats per tablespoon) to get close but under my fat limit.
I’ve also found it useful when building my daily meal plans to start with supper first, then breakfast, and finish with lunch. I dont know why, but somehow that makes it easier for me to keep the totals in perspective.
