Started over today - MCT Oil 1st time

So... today should really be day 3 for me but I ate my body weight in food yesterday (all keto food but still) so i am starting over today.  I bought MCT oil and am having it in my coffee right now, but I am concerned about how many calories it is... I only get like 1200/day and the F bomb MCT oil packet i used (until I get my delivery today from amazon) was 250 calories.  Is it worth it guys?  I'm desperate to get my act together!  I have struggled with my weight since I had my first child at 21, I turn 40 in March... I habitually have a problem with portion control... suggestions for a newbie?

Welcome to the group. There is a lot of support and good information here.

A few suggestion if you are starting off new:

    1. Drink LOTS of water, and I do mean LOTS
    2. Watch out for hidden carbs
    3. Keep your carbs under 50 grams, lower even if you can manage (20 grams)

Some people track Net Carbs others Total Carbs. Net Carbs is basically:
Net Carbs = Total Carbs - (Fibre +sugar alcohols).

Sugar alcohols are mostly artificial sweeteners, essential the gut is unable to process these compounds. Consuming too much artificial sweeteners can cause bloating, irritable bowels, and diarrhea, plus some of them can cause an insulin response that can kick you out of ketosis.

I've never used MCT oil packets, so I can't answer that question.

However, I drink a bulletproof coffee every morning. The MCT oil that I've been buying is Left Coast Performance from Amazon. One of the biggest things that you need to look at is the amounts of Caprylic and Capric Acid (C8 and C10) as these have the best benefits.

I do 2 TB of butter and 1TB of MCT oil. Back when I was tracking everything diligently, I was consuming around 1200 calories a day as well. Don't fret though, you're only on day 3! The satiated feeling won't come right away. Your body needs to adjust to burning fat in place of carbs. Give it time, and your body will adjust appropriately.

If you do consume more than your allotted calories, just make sure that you're eating it mostly in fats, proteins, or green vegetables. Again, just allow your body time to adjust.
