Ketones level after exercise

Hi,

I’m on keto diet since 3 weeks, and lost 6kgs.

I noticed that after running for 20min (3km 3 days a week), my ketones levels go above 6 for 8-12hrs?

is this normal?

Should I be eating something special before running? Or after running?

    You've trained your body to use ketones for fuel instead of glucose.  You create demand for fuel by exercising and then see fuel supplied via fat breakdown in your bloodstream?   Not medical advice, but it sounds normal to me.  Not sure how long it takes to consume that fuel.  As a general rule, if you put ingredients for fuel in your stomach by eating, do you expect your body to use it or the fat stores you're trying to burn off?  I would never eat before I went running, but that was way before Keto.

    So I actually have the opposite effect (albeit I haven’t tracked ketone levels since week 4 and currently on week 8) but after a hard workout, My ketones would drop. 
     

    From the massive amount of research I’ve done, what I have gathered is this:

     

    1. I cannot workout on a fast Because I get extremely sick if I do, so I usually eat a very high protein/keto friendly meal an hour before going to the gym (think 4 eggs and 4 sausage patties).  So, yes my body is using the introduced food for fuel. 
     

    2. My workout consists of ~60 min weight training (10 different lifts, 3 sets of 10-15 reps per set at roughly 60-70% of max) and then 15-30 min of cardio (either walking 3.2 incline of 1.0 or Stationary bike) so your muscles use glycogen which is stored carbs in the muscles and when you use your muscles, it releases it as glucose. Therefore, giving you a “sugar rush.”  
     

    I know this really doesn’t do much for your initial question, but wanted to give you what happens from the opposite effect.
